Do you know if accupuncture can help my boyfriend give up smoking? He's smoked for a couple of years now and I hate it. He says he wants to give up but doesn't have the will power to do it by himself. He is considering going to see an accupuncturist to help him. I thought an accupuncturist helped to relieve pain. Can anyone advise me.

My thought is that accupuncture (and yes - it can help many things other than pain relief) , hypnotherapy, patches, etc. all help if the person really wants to stop smoking - if they don't want to then no therapy in the world will make them stop. I do hypnotherapy and have had good success with people who wanted to stop and just needed a bit of help.
I think the first thing is that he has to get clear in his mind if he wants to stop for himself or if he is saying he wants to stop to keep you happy (as he is obviously aware you hate it). If he is not stopping for himself then no therapy is going to help him.
