When looking at who is logged on to HP, why does it give a number for 'Robots'

There are members, who are people who have signed up to HP, and are logged in.
There are guests, who are people who are just viewing the pages (or members who haven't yet logged in)
and there are Robots, who are known pieces of software that trawl the internet viewing pages of information. Companies like Google or Microsoft Bing, or Yahoo etc. write such robots to read the content and index it so that when you do a search, the pages can be found in the search engine.
