Do you like risks, or do you avoid them?

What major risks have you taken in your life?

I generally don't but I have been braver over the last year or so, and I've recently got into college.

Congratulations on getting into college!

I have to admit, I hardly ever take risks but like you I have just signed up to a college course (scary!) so maybe I am changing the habits of a lifetime?!

I never did like to take risk that much so I am a risk averse person. Congratulations on getting into collage 🙂

Well done for being braver and getting into college!
As for risks, there is a big difference between just taking risks or taking "calculated risks". If you weigh up the pros and cons of what you intend doing then it is no longer such a risk as you know what you are getting yourself into.

We must always move on in life, if we keep doing what we always do then we get what we always got. If we want to change something then we need to take action (=risk?).

The biggest risk I took was to take voluntary redundancy from a well paid job which I did not like. It took me a month before I found another job, which I loved.
🙂

I was thinking about this only yesterday. Daniella is very right, I am going to have to take a risk or two to get my dream established but this is unfamiliar ground for me, I have always liked ‘safe’. As far as I can see its all about believing in yourself. It can take some time to be comfortable enough to stand in your own light, especially if that light is very unfamiliar and poweful. My vision is of a healing sanctuary with complementary therapies, a place of recovery, healing and growth but so many businesses like this go under so before I would take any risk like this it would be imperative that the ground work is done on the most important part of the whole business…..me, once I am ready and foussed then theres really not much risk envolved.

Being a cautious Capricorn, it's rare for me to take risks, but i've done something out of character- planning to up sticks and relocate many miles away. It's something that's been planned for a few years, but it wasn't until the middle of last year that things started to become a reality rather than wishful thinking.

Warmest wishes- calla lily x

Great post.

I quit a good job last year to set up my therapy business. I wanted to help people achieve inner calm.

I also trade the stock market.

I enjoy extreme sports (my current flavour is rock climbing; previously skateboarding and aggressive inline skating... both of which have put me in hospital. :o).

All could be considered to entail large amounts of risk. However, I have looked into the pros and cons and know what I risk losing. It's about reward vs risk and probability of success... a business-like approach to any apparently risky venture will help someone decide if it is an action worth taking.

Like Darren, I took a risk in changing my career to become a therapist. I packed in a well paid job as Sales and Marketing Manager for a £15M company to become a self-employed therapist. It seemed like a risk at the time but I wouldn't go back to my old career for anything now.

I used to be involved in a lot of high adrenalin and/or risky sports but don't really have the time as much nowadays. I played tournament paintball for many years, I've been skydiving, hangliding, parascending, gliding, had a few flying lessons etc.

Cautious Capricorn? Ooh, am I meant to be cautious? So that's where I've been going wrong all this time!
Must admit I've taken quite a few 'chances' over the years, big one's that have changed my life overnight but I'm still here to tell the tale!
Moving miles away to a barely known place has been one of the things I've also done, where are you planning to move to & from Calla Lily?

Ive taken a few over the years, some have worked out , some haven't.....its all just a learning curve.

If a situation comes up i tend to 'go' with it as i feel as i may 'miss' out if i dont....is this where i am going wrong !!!!!

Hi Sunray,

I took a risk coming here to Marbella from the UK, so far it has paid off enormously in terms of spiritual and emotional development but I am still waiting for the financial bit.
Yes I like risks because like Daniela said "if we do what we always did, we get what we always got" and never has a truer word been spoken.

Love and Peace

You still have the caution bit Treacle, as in 'throw caution to the wind' Capricorn LOL!:005:

I'm upping sticks from Kent to Liverpool with my children in tow , where we'll probably be dubbed as 'mousers' ( mock scousers!)

warmest wishes- calla lily x
