Hi

Have any of you received emails from pearlholistic? Some company in Birmingham? I've been having massage problems with my email this month and it turns out that they sent me a video in an email that was over 16 meg in size! I've been unable to receive more than a couple of emails at a time and having problems sending anything more than a small text file since. The file is so big that I cannot delete it! What's worse is I am having to delete loads of emails in order to try and delete it. So far I have spent 10 hours deleting and rearranging stuff. As you can imagine I am not best pleased.

What's worse is I may have to pay someone to delete the file as I am unable. Am I justified in passing this cost to them? I think it's disgusting they know such poor email etiquette!

What is even worse is that I have had some complaints about emails not being answered and have lost business as a result, so I am more than unhappy!

Hi Justine,
Can you not open the video, save it to your hard drive then delete the email.if you need the text in the email copy and paste it into a text file and save also.16mb for an email is huge have they not heard of winzip or a different compression software!!!
You shouldn't have issues deleting the mail unless the attachment is open at the time.If you need any more questions answered PM me:) Im in the IT world so should be able to help...I hope:D

Nope. It wont save the email off in order to do that, it wont let me even open / download the mail cause of disk space.

I've deleted 300 emails so far which isn't ideal, as I like to keep track of things.

Thanks Jenstarr. My other half and I both have IT backgrounds and we can't do it. We even have shell access and we've maxed out the size of our email account space, we have to get the guys we rent from to do it - by upping the space on our email account temporarily or paying extra for a larger email box on a permanent basis.

The problem is it needs some disk space in order to perform the delete to send it to the recycle bin and then space to actually empty the recycle bin - it wont even let us change folder. We had a problem before and had to increase the space.

I do think that people who don't understand email usage and etiquette shouldn't be sending mails! Spam at it's worst!

J, is the email still sitting on the email server or has it come down to your PC yet?

I had a problem once (when I was on a 56k modem) where someone was always keen on sending me large files and it was just killing things to try and get MS Outlook to download the email. What I managed to do was set a rule up in Outlook so that if the file was larger than X Kb it would delete it from the server without downloading it. That solved my problem. 😉
