Is it just me or does anyone else love the autumn as well ? Just about my favourite season – along with spring. To be honest I really look forward to it. I live in a tourist hotspot which makes summer a complete nightmare with crowded beaches, terrible traffic etc. I’m the complete opposite of some people who suffer from SAD who get depressed in the darker months. I absolutely love :

- the leaves turning red and brown
- the dark evenings
- curling up on the sofa by the fire with a good book
- eating sticky toffee pudding, lighting scented candle and drinking hot chocolate in my jim jams
- beautiful frosty mornings
- long walks in peace and quiet
- my area becomes peaceful once again until the following year when visitors come back

Wonderful. :p

I totally agree with you Happygirl - it is also my favourite season :). You can forget summer, it's autumn for me every time. I just love to see all the beautiful colours and just today I was driving home from work and went through an area with trees either side and the pavements were deep in golden leaves. I just felt like parking the car and running through the leaves kicking them and collecting some to take home but thought better of it considering we were in a residential area!

I guess I will just have to go onto Dartmoor and find a forest at the weekend and go back to my childhood! I really want to take some nice photos too.

Yes autumn is fantastic, I breathe a sigh of relief when summer is gone! Sad I know but I do not like feeling hot :006: and bothered and tired and unenthusiastic! I live and work by the sea and just love to go to work on a blustery day and watch the waves crashing up over the wall. There is something so exhilarating standing by the sea when it is rough and being blown by the wind and feeling the spray on your face. Certainly blows the cobwebs away!

Hmm I like this time of the year!

Oh No!! I hate this time of year and can't wait until spring.
Hate the smell of dead leaves, although I'll admit the colours are pretty.
Hate walking through piles of leaves as you never know whats underneath.
Hate the mud that ends up being walked through the house and the muddy footprints I am forever cleaning from the kitchen floor, humans and dogs.
Hate the fact that every evening there are fireworks going off from mid october.
Have trouble waking up in the morning...and on and on I could go.

Sorry to be such a misery, think I'll go and hide under the duvet until spring.

I love, love autumn too. The colours, the smells, the light, not too hot or cold.

I was born in October and often wonder if that has something to do with my love of the season. I also chose to be married in the autumn (first time around) and although the marriage didn't work out, the wedding day was a gloriously happy occasion and the pictures, with a backdrop of autumn foliage, were stunningly beautiful.

I love to look at autumn through a window. I love the colours but I really don't like the cold, the damp and the mud and snow and slush yuck!

Spring is nice, Summer is better - but not too hot on a night.

Autumn and winter I enjoy in Cyprus which is like our spring.

My dream is to live in Cyprus - Autumn, Winter, Spring & Summer except August then I would spend it here. 🙂 heaven

In Autumn I love wrapping up on a crisp morning, scrunching through the dried leaves, picking some and doing leaf designs with my sons. Lighting the fire in the evenings, making homemade veggie soups, putting a smiley face on the pumkin! I am a lover of all seasons really though don't like it when its too hot and humid though we don't get a lot of that here!!

Rachel.

I have wondered about whether our favourite seasons are affected by when we were born. I was born in mid June so maybe thats why I prefer the summer. Hubby was born in November and loves autumn.

I'm so glad that so many of you love the autumn as well. Loved reading the posts mentioning pumpkins, conkers and so on. Trouble is I get the feeling that it's not "cool" (for want of a better word) to like anything different from the summer - where peeps go on and on about wanting to go somewhere hot, to lie on a beach and get a tan etc. I do like the summer but I'm blonde and fair skinned so get bored and hot and bothered just lying in the sun, I hate not being able to sleep because of the heat (except for this last summer !!) and I find everywhere in summer is generally is more noisy and crowded as people go about their business. I just love the autumn for all the reasons you've mentioned - I can't really explain it but it gives me a feeling of "comfort" somehow - with hot water bottles, hot chocolate and so on.

I love spring as well - seeing the new born lambs and the daffodils and other flowers coming up at the end of the winter. I was a spring baby so particulary love both spring and autumn.

Love and hugs :grouphug:

Autumn Scrummyness

I love Autumn soooo much the wind in my hair is great. Piles of Autumn leaves ready to kick everywhere (wait for them to be neatly piled up though!)
Most people in Britain are Autumn personality types so we will really like Autumn followed closely by Spring and then Summer. Its about being vibrant like the Autumn, Warm, friendly, loyal, curious, firey, independant, earthy, enthusiastic, these are all traits that get me into mischief but are who I am, and Conkers well, if you could bottle that wonderful freshly peeled conker colour and have it everywhere I would be happy for one!
Wish we had a smilie that was falling leaves ....
Helen
Could we have that for Autumn please??

Hi,

As a bricky, I always seem to have my head out of the window to see what the weather is like....whether (no pun intended) I can work or not!! But I still find that all the seasons are special and each one of them I greet with as much joy as the others.

Autumn has got to be one of my favourites though, after the long hot summer (??) :nature-smiley-008:the days start growing shorter and every minute of the day has to be counted. Then there are the changing colours of the autumn leaves, particularly good at this moment, yeah you're right, what a great time of year!!:045:

I made a conscious decision to start liking autumn and winter a few years ago. I seemed to panic as summer drew to a close and would count the months until more sunshine. I think I used to identify with the sicky back-to-school feeling and wearing socks and hard leather shoes and coats. All felt like my freedom had been curtailed.

But now I've realised that, all being well, I'll see the next spring and summer in no time at all, so why not enjoy the other two seasons for what they offer? I have just returned from Tenerife where I was wearing bikinis and sarongs all day and slept under the usual white sheet with the patio doors open. Yesterday I was back to duvets and woolly jumpers, and drinking red wine instead of Malibu and I feel very cosy. So strange to feel the contrast in the space of just one day though!

I'm looking forward to Halloween, fireworks night with hot mugs of oxo and then Christmas. The New Year will be a time of fresh beginnings and then there's my birthday in February. After that, it's a tad bleak until springtime and the novelty has truly worn off by then but it really makes me appreciate the first blossoms, etc.

So I can now say I love all the seasons for very different reasons! Change is a reminder that we are alive and moving forward.

Catherine
