Hi

I would like to get an idea of other therapists experiences in this business, specifically in relation to seasonal dips or spikes in business.

Is January not very busy for most massage therapists or do you think there's more of a dip in December?

Thanks

Depends where you are and the type of clientele you may have.

For me working in a therapy centre in sleepy Cornwall, is that work dips in the school holidays. As for December can be full for the first two weeks of the month, then it gets very quiet. January for me is usually busy as any month. I would say peak demand is in July, then afterwards once again the summer holidays kick in and work drops down.

Spring is when an all-in attitude toward your business is so important. This is when you will invest most of your time, energy and money in education, marketing and promoting your business. Like a farmer, you must first learn exactly what you need to do to establish a successful farm—or, massage practice—before jumping in. This is when investing in high-quality equipment and seed is critical. (For example, one small bag of great seed yielding great food is far better than 10 bags of mediocre seed producing mediocre food.)
