Oh dear, Amethystfairy. it worked fine for me. I've just registered with them and did another one on sexism as regards careers/family matters and their association with male/ female.
They are a real eye-opener as to what goes on behind the rational mind.
Sharon.

Well maybe for some. :omy result said: There were too many erros made to determine a result.
🙂

What's that Darren?
It discusses how your mind reacts and makes such choices before you have a chance to really think and analyse. Just like thinking that black means bad and white means good.
Here: Blink
(From memory.) He told a story about how some black guy was standing outside his house one night in the Bronx (or some other poor area of New York), taking in fresh air, when he saw a four door car drive by slowly. 4 big men suddenly jumped out and moved towards him. He panicked, recalling recent stories of robberies and drive-by shootings and ran to his house door, turned around to find they were just behind him, so fumbled in his pocket for his wallet, took it out to give to them just as they started shooting at him.
It turns out these were 4 police officers in an unmarked car who were patrolling. They thought he looked suspicious so went to question him, only to see him run away, then spin round and draw what they thought was a small firearm. The leading officer lept back while shooting to avoid being shot. The other offices thought the leading officer must have been shot and shot at the guy in the doorway.
In the end they had shot him 20 times.
Blink looks interesting and I'll look out for it. I think basically we make snap decisions based on the experience we store in our bodies - gut decisions!
I came to the web-site via New Scientist - this weeks - which has quite a lot of articles about Mind/Body.
Here's a link but you need a subscription to see the whole article.

IT WAS a ground-breaking investigation into the nature of consciousness and free will. In 1983, psychologist Benjamin Libet of the University of California, San Francisco, hooked five volunteers up to an EEG machine and asked them to make voluntary movements, such as lifting a finger, whenever they felt like it. Watching the electrical activity in their brains, he discovered that his subjects only became consciously aware of their intention to act a few hundred milliseconds after their brain had initiated the movement. Libet was forced to conclude that what feels like a conscious decision may in fact be nothing of the sort (Brain, vol 106, p 623).
Mods - how do I edit that post? The link doesn't work and the edit button is obscured by the window with the ads.
BTW "Blink" is in the Kingston library system... last time I saw it, it was in New Malden Library.
