Morning everyone, on this horrible windy morn (well up here it is). I was wondering if anyone knows anything about colour therapy and what are the best colours for rooms in a house.
I want to change the colour of my bedroom. It's an apple green at the moment, which is nice but I'm want a change. I'm not sure what to choose and I don't want a clolour that will inhibit sleep or anything that is too dark.
There is a lovely turquoise around at the moment, but it is any good (colour therapy wise) for a bedrom? If anyone has any ideas, i would be grateful. thanks x
Great choice - Turquoise! The colours most condusive to sleeping are the blues, greens and turqoise and lilacs so get painting that lovely turquoise on!!! Also pastel shades of pinks are beneficial to create a loving, soft and feminine side to the room. If you go for predominant pastel use scatter cushions or drapes with a more dominant colour. If you do go for the turquoise you need to think about your personal preferences, and the phsyical attributes of the room, its size and shape, how much light it has etc. The energies related to the turquoise are purity, and calmness and aids with nervous tension, and it also helpful with inflammations. It is also used to boost the immune system as it has a link with the thymus. Try to avoid yellow as this is more preferable in an office/study kind of room. The yellow is more mentally stimulating and might just prevent sleep!
Other ideas:
Living Room: Neutral, browns, beiges and some harmonizing turquoise for relaxation, calm and peace. For even more tranquility chose more blue shades.
Dining Room: Reds, this can stimulate communication and appetite. If Bold red isnt appealing move to a rusty red type of shade.
Study: Yellow, linked to intellect and mental activities, adds happiness with its association with the su.
Kitchen: Remember the energies we are giving off are projected into the food we prepare so we need a comfortable colour, again so blue is a good colour, giving the impression of coolness and brings peace and relaxation.
Hope this helps!
Thats fab - You've got colours for every room in my whole house. - Do you decorate too:)
No really! - I was thinking of white walls and that lovely dark turquoise or teal colour as curtains, cusions and throws etc or maybe paint one wall in it too. It does make a difference though, I remember in my other house painting the utility room in a bright yellow as I thought it would be 'sunny'. - I couldnt go in there, is was sickly and I had to magnolia it out quick smart.
Thanks your advice. Are you a colour therapist or is it just an interest?
Just qualified in colour therapy so its all fresh in the brain!!!!! Glad what i said was of some use xx
