I took what seems like an insane decision the other day (as my FB friends already know): in June this year I'm going to be celebrating (if that's the right word) my 60th birthday. Now while I was in India this winter my Hindu friends were telling me that 60 is a real milestone in their culture; basically it's the beginning of the last (and wisest and possibly most spiritual) stage of their lives. As many of you know already, I have a close connection with a small Hindu temple in the tourist resort of Kovalam in Kerala and the priests there told me that they can perform a special puja for me on my birthday. Since I came back I have been thinking about this and telling myself how much I would love to be there in person...yet the air fare would be prohibitively expensive for a short stay and I would also be unavailable for work here in UK so even more out of pocket. Not to mention the fact that it will be monsoon in Kerala and I would miss some of England's qualifying matches in the football World Cup!
Well, lo and behold, I was sitting in meditation last Sunday and out of nowhere the conviction washed over me that I should go. Later I realised that I'm only going to be 60 once (in this lifetime anyway) and that money is just pieces of coloured paper:rolleyes:. So on Monday I firstly phoned my friends in Kovalam, who by 'coincidence' happened to be in the temple at that moment, and then booked my ticket. I fly on 17th June and return on 24th and am soooo excited and pleased that I'm going. Apart from when sanity returns and I realise just how much it's going to cost financially. But there's no changing my mind now. I just wanted to share this with you - and you can bet you'll get a blow by blow account when I return:):):)

That's really exciting for you, Sunanda! You can enjoy the anticipation of the trip for the next few months as well as the experience!! So twice the enjoyment :D. As for the cost - perhaps some meditation on where to get the extra income from???

Prayers are being offered to Lord Kubera, the god of wealth! Actually, it's being funded by my cashing in some Premium Bonds which form part of my very very small retirement nest egg. It occurred to me though to wait until April's draw which took place yesterday - now wouldn't it be something if I won some money!
Anyway, as I often say - and my friends here hate me telling them this - I could be knocked over by a bus at any time, so I'll worry about being old and penniless and destitute when it happens! That's the theory anyway.
Thank you for your wows, Tigress. I am so aware that not one person has said 'you must be mad, what a waste of money'. Even if they're thinking it!!!

I don't think you are mad or that it's a waste of money Sunanda. As you say you will only be 60 once in this lifetime, so do what you want to celebrate it!! It does sound wonderful and look forward to your updates when you are there. 🙂
Hi Sunanda
I too agree that you have done absolutely the right thing in booking your trip. It sounds fabulous and I am looking forward to hearing all about it in due course.
Live for today and I'm sure tomorrow will look after itself. Trust that the universe will indeed provide for you.
Love and hugs

sunanda go for it girl, if you cannot do this for yourself who else will. who knows what is around the corner, put a lottery ticket on you never know.
I'm so delighted for you, Sunanda! What a wonderful way to celebrate such a special year. Perhaps in the run up you could practice the Kubera mudra for allowing yourself to easily manifest resources for this trip to enjoy it the style you deserve! I learnt this one literally today, so it felt timely to mention it 🙂

Yay, Sunanda, go for it with joy!
Everything you need to manifest, material and otherwise, is within you; and this experience will help you radiate it outwards into your daily life. I'm sure your act of faith will bring rich rewards!

Thank you both, cub and BV! Great to 'see' you both again.
Cub - timely indeed. I had said to someone only yesterday or the day before that prayers were going to be offered to Lord Kubera and you come along and show me the mudra. How about that?

I missed this on FB - but it sounds to me like an eminently sensible decision. Whether you only live once, or many times, I doubt you can take it with you...!
Hi Sunanda like the others I think this is a great idea and most certainly not a waste of money. I think you have just shown the universe that you trust that you will be provided for so go for it and get your wise woman ritual. You have so deserved it.

I missed this on Facebook too, but I think it's a wonderful idea!! How exciting!
