Hi Amelia,
On one hand the sub-forum could be a great idea - but the Princess Di thread got moved here and a few of us do fly a bit close to the wind on not being "political". I also understand that as nothing gets people more hot under the collar that politics! :DSo it is a subject to be guarded, I realise.
So apart from hoping that we can all be sensible, where is the line crossed? It just occurs to me that there is that thread on 9/11, just for example. So maybe we need it stated slightly more clearly? Can we post on things like that - or are "current affairs" intended to be innocous, such as subsiding cliffs or someting tabloid-harmless. I don't think I have expressed myself well, but what I mean is, in decency and politeness, can, reasonably, politcal subjects be talked about? LOL like having a funny dig at John Prescott?
Just trying to help out to get definitions clear. For example, an old subject of mine is "conspiracies" - if written about politely how does thathang? It's already happening - being posted about - anyway! 😀

Thankyou for creating this section.
I feel this country is in a state of turmoil and upheaval, and I honestly feel nothing will turn nasty or need Moderating to the degree that isn't really expected.

In answer to your question, yes they can. The main thing for us all to remember though, is that in order for a sub forum such as this to work we need to respect others views & feelings, & likewise for people not to get overly offended when someone elses opinion is on the opposite 'side if the coin' to their own.
I think that hardest thing will be is when people get very emotion (perhaps not the right word but you get the gist....I'm having a 'bad word day' today) & reply to something in haste then negitive comments may fly which is why I've asked above that people pause for a minuet before they click the 'submit post' button;)
As we're all adults I'm sure this will be a very interesting forum & I for one am very much looking forward reading many interesting posts
Love
Amy

Hi Amelia,
I agree. I actually don't have much doubt that HP people will have a problem being polite on politics, as I get the feeling many of us come from the same 'place' i.e. not fanatical.
I must say I did feel the lack of reasonable politics being a part of HP - I don't really mean typical politics, but just being able to make a comment!
Dear Sheringham, I don't mean to disagree but am just curious. You write:
"I feel this country is in a state of turmoil and upheaval".
I'm just curious as to why you feel that way, as I feel quite the opposite - IMO if anything politics and the state of the nation is pretty mundane right now, if not boring (apart from the odd right-hander from John Prescott!).

In the past few days the current incumbent in No 10's rating has pummeted to 15%
I think the Forest Gate business, and the event last year involving the shooting of the young man on the tube at Stockwellhave been stirring feelings on unease (the aftermath of these events , if you like)
Why does the PM need a plane, whats wrong with RAF planes, why can't he use those, they have been good enough in the past for previous PMs'
But back to the feelings of unease and turmoil, someone somewhere is trying to destroy our support and faith in the Police, why? who? They receive Intelligence, they act upon it, and its bogus, ok this happens a couple of more times and then the Intelligence received is real or true. Now we the great British public have been misled by our Police, and a bomb goes off.
The vast majority of people I talk too have all said the stuffing has gone from our Nation, we have no National pride. Yes I know people are flying St George's flag, but that isn't for the Nation , its for footie. The Powers that be are calling to mind Hitler and his effect on the German nation is a groundswell of opinion.
People have been encouraged to take on huge debts, and cannot take time out to look after their own children, is this a distraction?
We used to be a fine manufacturing country we, no longer make anything, we are just a service nation now.
Iwonder where we shall be in 5 years time, even who shall we be? Oddly it isn't Europe that I feel the threat from, its from across the Pond....

WOW, HP is listening to its members.....I have waited six years to see this forum manifest......I am overjoyed!
I just found out about it from the newsletter......
I think the words 'politically correct' come to mind.......
and RESPECT! including the political leaders because I feel in my heart it is important to remember that they are human too! Also compound negativity creates psychic attack, so lets be upbeat, discuss solutions in response to weakness and perceived threats.
Love beyond measure to all at HP, progress indeed.
HP has moved into the 21st century of political consciousness or lets say current affairs!;)That usually have politics as the root cause......
I heard on Sunday that a lady could not be housed in central London, one of the main reasons given she speaks English! Sunday Newspapers!

Today is my boyfriend birthday. I want to give a present to him. But I am very confused what I should buy. So, I am wandering in centre of my city. Then I am walking and thinking about that thing. Then I clock store, and the watches are very beautiful and gentlemanly. I want to buy one for him. But in China, it is grim to give someone a watch as a birthday gift. Presenting someone a watch during festivals means the sender want to attending the people who receives the gift funeral. So I go out of the store. When I come to the corner, I find a nike outlet store where sells cheap nike shoes. I can see many shoes are on sales. For example, cheap nike shox. The Shopping Guide are very enthusiastic. She introduce me some kinds of nike shoes, especial air Jordan shoes which is in white and black color. I think the quality is good. To tell the truth, I like the shoe very much. But it is a litter expensive. Then I give up the air Jordan shoes. Then I turn to ask the guider for nike air force 1. But there is no inventory at the size I need. So she gives me a pair of nike free shoes. The shoes are very light, she tell me that the shoes are added air cushioning system, the shoes can protect feet very well. Personally, I do not like the color of shoes, it is red and black. I think it is more suitable for women not for men.
I thanks for the guiders help. When I decide to step out of the store, I discover a very charming shoes lays on the sales promotion cart. I love the color very much. It is black and white. The guider says that it is cheap Jordan shoes. She also tell me that the shoes are on sales. So the price is very reasonable. I buy one. And my boyfriend likes my present very much. That is really a good day.

Is it 'politically correct' to believe stuff made up by right-wing newspapers? I have searched hard and never, ever found any evidence of PC outside their imaginative stories, which apparently occur in some world other than our own..
It seems there is not a lot of interest in this forum. I didn't know it existed.....and these are the first posts in nearly 8 years.......!!!
You must have mis-viewed the forum and looked at the pinned/sticky threads at the top. It's a fairly active forum if you view beneath those threads. 😉
Politically correct has a different meaning in stand up comedy. It refers to certain material being taboo e.g. sexist, racist, ageist etc.
🙂
Ok, this thread was meant to be just a sticky notification about the forum when it was first created.
What I'm going to do is lock the thread, and if we want to take any part of the ensuing discussion from this thread and start new discussions based on them... feel free.
