So there we are - Human Rights don't matter in the UK. The environment doesn't matter in the UK. All that matter are Murdoch's lies!

How much influence do you think Murdoch has? He is not even a politican! Newspapers don't sell like they used to now more people are online.

I must admit I had a sinking feeling though when I heard today's news..... I don't pretend to understand the complexities but, it would seem that if we now join the EEA (European Economic Area), all is not lost environmentally (according to Friends Of The Earth).

The odd thing is that about 90+% of the people on facebook are saying how terrible the result is, and only a handful are rejoicing in it. That doesn't seem to reflect the actual result.

Of course the vote being fixed cannot be ruled out, can it?

The vote for Brexit was on such a slim margin too!

No it won't be fixed. My FB is about equal with between distraught or philosophical remainers and brexiters taking various attitudes. Boy is ego much in evidence tho! I am staying off FB until it calms down.....

A surprise to say the least. Remain had surged after poor Jo Cox's murder, and they had held their own in the final debates.

But that is democracy. The people have spoken.

I believe we could still work out some sort of affiliated membership based just on trade.
Either way, time for calm heads.

I intend to avoid much of the referendum coverage for the immediate future i.e. until at least next week since there is bound to be a lot of scaremongering and (maybe) needless anxieties that could well get addressed as we start to adjust to this new situation.

Murdoch has a lot of influence. Since Thatcher the candidate backed by Murdoch has won in every general election. And sales of papers are going down, yes. But Murdoch's papers still sell.

And of course, a lot of what people access online is Murdoch driven.

Maybe less than you imagine. He has had his heyday really - past his peak.

I think probably the main reason that the slim majority was for Brexit has a lot to do with the immigration issue.

The 'immigration issue' that Murdoch fuelled. People didn't have to read his papers - just a glance at the headlines would do. The figures that had Brexiters running scared were those they were told by the tabloids, not real.

What gives you the impression that he's had his heyday?

The immigration issue was largely spearheaded by Farage. Murdoch was just a promoter of that policy in my view.

Murdoch is big in newspapers and newspapers have had their day, i.e. their sales are diminishing.

Farage said stuff - Murdoch printed what he said.

All Murdoch's papers have a presence online. Not to mention Sky News.

People had to get their false figures on immigration from somewhere. The Murdoch press was one of those places. I guess the echo-chamber of Facebook and other social media had quite a bit to do with it, as well.

Wow! Just found out about this....did you know..??

Except that, of course, we can hardly go (cap in hand style) and approach the EU now that they have told us to get out pronto!
