Robin Hood Tax - hows this for a novel idea?

I got sent this link by a friend and thought - ah...another spoof...

Then I watched the video and read the articles and looked at the names under "Who we are"

It convinced me to put my name on the list but I wonder what HP'ers think to it?

(Dear Mods, although it involves people paying out money its hopefully not going to breach any of your guidelines :))

In theory a good idea. However, I would bet a reasonably large sum of money that if such a tax were imposed, the banks would find a way of making their customers pay for it.

Hi, Nice Idea, but as Bannick as said, we would probably foot the bill, one way or another.
I have supported it though.

Totally agree with the idea. Think it's gathering pace amongst the press as well. I've added my name to the ever growing list

I voted for it too, despite thinking much the same as Bannick thought. But I did notice when I clicked my vote in, that there were quite a lot of 'no' votes, which I thought surprising.

Then guess what? I heard on the Today programme this morning that the Robin Hood Tax website organisers were surprised too, by how many votes against the Tax they were getting, so they did a little investigating, and found that 5,000 of the votes had come from just two computers. Hmmm.

One of the computers they had managed to track down to Goldman Sachs investment bankers!

You couldn't make it up could you? :rollaugh:
