I'd be interested on what members' thoughts are on this. Some say there is a cover-up since a black box has a retrieval beacon making it easy to find if a plane crashes into water. What's going on here? If it's a cover-up,....why? I did briefly entertain the notion of an alien intervention of some kind...remember the bermuda triangle?
Anyway, your thoughts?...

Hi Amy. Could you give a link to those who say there is a cover up.

Amy, the black box does give off a sonar signal that can be detected underwater for a few hundred miles, if the conditions are right, and the people are looking in the right direction. Still, not that easy to find things underwater, and I believe that's why they've been struggling to locate it.
OK Giles...but struggling for days? With so many scanning the location? Doesn't sound right to me.
Meanwhile, 20 passengers on the missing plane are world-class electronic geeks for a major Defense contracting company that specializing in such things as weapons that disappear planes and ships for the battlefield.
They are employed by a company designing and manufacturing cutting edge electronic weaponry for the Department of Defense. Such weaponry includes those making it possible to vanish planes off the radar, as Deborah Dupré reported this weekend in the article,
For anyone who wants to help the search google 'Crowdsourcing the search for the missing airliner'
Whatever the explanation, the more pairs of eyes looking the better.
The terrorists angle has been dissolved. It hung on the 2 stolen passports but these were traced to 2 Iranians just chancing their luck, looking for a better life elsewhere and with no terrorist connections.
I have had a discussion with someone who believes the whole thing is a hoax, i.e. not even happened since he thinks it's a distraction to take our minds off what is happening with Russia (and possibly US intervening soon?). I'd like to say that it is not a hoax since I have been in contact with someone who has a missing relative on that plane.
There is something called a dragon's triangle in that location, e.g. like the Bermuda Triangle. A portal?
(Cue: Twilight Zone theme tune)
For those who have not yet heard, the latest is that 3 satellite images of floating objects have been detected near the location! Wow! ![]()
I think they have now been discounted.
I was listening to the radio and apparently it is very easy to lose track of planes over the sea! But happily plane crashes are so rare we all have the idea that we should be able to pinpoint where planes are all the time... and we are wrong. Even black boxes (which are orange) are not that easy to locate out at sea. I feel so sorry for the relatives. It must be dreadful not knowing
And now this!....
And now this!....
Which has now also been discounted!

A report in the Wall Street Journal on Thursday suggested the Boeing 777 might have flown for more than four hours after losing contact with air traffic control, based on claims the engines continued sending data to the ground.
Since then Mr Hussein said his team had spoken to both Malaysian Airlines and Rolls-Royce, the engine's manufacturers, who said the report was "inaccurate" and that the last engine data was received at 01:07 (17:07 GMT), around 23 minutes before the plane lost contact.
Despite this, Malaysian authorities have expanded their search into the Andaman Sea and beyond, requesting India's help with the search. The jet had enough fuel to reach deep into the Indian Ocean.
Thanks Charis...all smoke and mirrors huh?
Yes, and yet now according to today's reports they're taking the possibility seriously and searching the Indian Ocean as well... I don't know what to think, but I do feel for the families and loved ones of those who are missing - how agonising it must be for them.
