There are 166 detainees at this prison, NONE of whom have been convicted or tried. Guess how many are currently on hunger strike.....100! 😮
86 detainees have been cleared for release but are still there.
Even the Commander In Chief, who runs the camp, has said that the camp shouldn't be open, i.e. it is not necessary to keep US safe.
What's going on? Why is this situation not being better aired/brought to our attention? Why has Congress blocked Obama's intention of closing this atrociously inhumane prison that has so shamed America?

I've been following this on Russia Today (RT). It's outrageous that a country that spouts about freedom, justice and democracy behaves this way. Interesting that it's not on the USA mainland. If it was China or Syria, American media would make a big deal out of it 🙁

Its also been all over the BBC world service. Obama is being blocked by the republicans. Thank goodness the Boston bombers are to be tried in the normal courts. It was suggested they be treated as enemy combatants - but Obama has won that battle.
A terrible situation for the dtainees, and a blight on the American system which seems, as ever to be held to ramsom by bigots.
Let's hope there is a quick conclusion to the situation.
If they are guilty of committing terrorist acts they should be charged.
If they are guilty of planning terrorist attacks they should be charged.
If there is no evidence of either they should be set free and returned to their respective countries of origin.
It makes a mockery of the American ideal of 'liberty and justice' if these values are not applied honestly - and evenly.
