...there is a civil emergency due to severe flooding in Albania and parts of Montenegro. Other parts of Eastern Europe are also affected.

I still get amazed at how "edited" our news often seems to be. Do I miss these things? I don't think so...but curious how many people had been aware of this before reading this thread?

To be honest, I'm not surprised how edited the news is, that's why I tend to not bother watching it. Too much focus on negativity and not enough focus on positivity. I certainly feel for the people suffering due to this and do hope that things improve for them (I will send Reiki to the situation), but there are also other things local and worldwide that too need attention. It may sound harsh of me, but each person in the world cannot fix the whole world. That doesn't mean that each person should be selfish and do nothing, but they should put things in perspective and do what is reasonable and within their means.

All Love and Reiki Hugs

Independent online news sources such as schnews, indymedia, reality sandwich cover a wider range of events. Of course they all have their own biases too...

Thanks longvines - I do look at a wide range of news sites and tend to keep a few in my "morning coffee" (Firefox add on which is wonderful!) at a time and swap them round every so often. Currently I have Sideways News and BBC and The Independent. Others I use are Positive News and Reuters and Optimist World but will now have a look for the ones you mention as had only heard of indymedia before out of the three.

Did you read the story by the way? Sounds pretty grim and a lot of devastation of land and housing.
