Going back to Facebook and issues that offend, I did report a group once, which I felt was extremely demeaning to women and FB thankfully removed it. It was the sort of group that would be more suited to 'adult' sites. It appeared in the news feed from a 'friend' who joined it, who also broadcast his break-up with his girlfriend in his status updates, which echoes what someone else said earlier about people who announce personal things. I've read some toe-curlingly personal things from people, I do wonder at them.

I think it's a good thing in a way that you are expressing your opinions, even if I'm inclined to disagree with them. I'm sure you're a decent human being, but I maintain that you are a fearful one.

I was thinking myself, Tigerlily, that if it wasn't for Sunkiss expressing her fear, then we wouldn't have had these excellent posts from you expressing love. It's clear from the exchanges here which type of person is most likely to start a civil war.

Great posts, Tigerlily, thanks.

I can tell from your posts that you don't.

Which specific post is that then Tigerlily? I am in my tenth month of a religious education degree, so I know enough.

This Syrian-American psychiatrist is doing all she can to make people of the West more aware of the danger of Islam, 'please' take a few minutes to watch this video and then continue to defend this barbaric cult.

Sunkiss - I don't understand why it is you have to consider it applies to all? I am sure in every religion/ culture there are extremists in views and activities who we may not agree with and who may be a threat to others - but surely that isn't justification to tar everyone with the same brush?
Yes to be aware of the potential maybe but not to take this "cover all" type view surely?

Celia, unfortunately Islam is in a league of its own, you are either a believer or an infidel in their eyes. what's more worrying is the alarming rate it's spreading at, child birth within the Muslim communities is significantly higher then Christian/Hindu/atheist etc.

this barbaric cult.

is an ancient faith, whereby Muslims express their belief in and love for God. It's not a cult, nor is it barbaric. It is a religion. Certain adherents of this faith take their beliefs to the extreme as, for instance, do those Christians who kill doctors who perform abortions. Unfortunately, Sunkiss, ten months of an academic degree don't appear to have introduced you to the possibility of inclusivity. Your issues with Islam obviously play a big part in your life. I'm so sorry you feel this way; I hope that one day you will get to know some individual members of the Muslim faith and that you will come to realise that your fears are unfounded. Until that time I wish you peace and am really grateful that you made it possible for me to read Tigerlily's posts. Sending you love and light.

I think Sunkiss has a right to say what she thinks, eventhough 10 months into a degree doesn't weigh any authority with me.

Here's another vid:

Whether Islam is a cult or a religion or just superstitious mumbo jumbo, one thing is certain about human beings - we can be extreme with any belief. Interesting though how majority of people in this world regardless of faith are decent. May be decency and morality is built into us, not necessarily revealed by God, Allah or whoever else. It's a realisation through our own personal and spiritual development.

I do know individual members of the muslim faith, my RE course is full of them.
It's funny, a few months ago I was completely lacking in confidence, a worry bag and also out of work for a while, starting this degree has changed my life completely and made me a happier more content person..the only thing that saddens me now are the things I have learnt about Islam. Yes, it is interesting to learn of others religions, but nothing prepared me for what I was taking on with Islam, I am 3/4 through the Quran and sometimes I have to put the book down, it truly sickens me.
I think to understand how awful this religion is(personally, I wouldn't give it the honor of calling it a religion) you need to read the Quran and the writing of Mohammed.

Thankfully, every other religion I have recently studied, particularly Hinduism, and Buddhism are peaceful and have lovely aspects to them, Islam really is in a league of its own. 🙁

What kind of a course is it, Sunkiss? It sounds like you've joined a cult!

Many millions of people read the Quran and don't interpret it the way you have. And to be honest, you do come across as very much of a worry bag, and not at all happy and contented. You do sound as if you should be on an anger management course rather than religious education. 🙂

You weren't thinking of going into teaching were you?

Two weeks ago a seven year old boy was hung because Muslims suspected he was spying for the Americans..seven years old. When I asked a Muslim her views on this (in front of my tutor) she said it was none of our business and it was Allahs will.

burka - a loose garment (usually with veiled holes for the eyes) worn by Muslim women especially in India and Pakistan; "the Taliban forced all women to wear the burqa"

oh thanks Sunanda

Yes, Celtic peoples migrated into the Iberian peninsular a few hundred years BC (and there was a bit of to-ing and fro-ing before that).

When the Romans arrived in Britian the ancient British people spoke the Brythonic language which is very closely related to Welsh. Even the word 'Britain' is derived from the Welsh 'Prydain'. All those who want to be radically and 'native' British should be speaking Welsh, not English.

wow i didnt know that everyone used to speak welsh!!! my family on one side are from wales...its quite sad that much of the language and culture has been overwritten....tho not if you live somewhere like Bethesda!

I do find it sad that so many people see only the differences between themselves and others, and not the similarities.

Like snowflakes each one unique but we are all made out of the same stuff

Two weeks ago a seven year old boy was hung because Muslims suspected he was spying for the Americans.

A 7-year-old boy was murdered by the Taliban in an apparent act of retribution this week. Afghan officials said that the child was accused of spying for U.S. and NATO forces and hanged from a tree in southern Afghanistan.

Are you saying muslims and taliban are the same thing?
