I would imagine that some of you are on facebook. I have been invited to join a group - I Was Born In The Uk. So Why Do I Have Less Rights Then Immigrants?
http://www.causes.com/causes/197529

"Please excuse Language"

:eek:I did not accept. The thing was it was sent to me by a Senior Principle Minister of the Corinthian Church and Healing Association.

And we complain about what people say on Healthy pages.;)

Do you think that facebook should clean up it's act?

Can't you 'block' the sender? Complain to FB about incitement? I haven't even looked at the link, but can only imagine what is being said! 🙁

Yes, the grammar is appalling: that should be "fewer" not "less"! 😀

Facebook is American. The American Constitution gives all citizens the right to say whatever they like unless it is the equivalent of shouting "fire" in a crowded auditorium (when there isn't one)

One of the groups on facebook is (can't remember the correct wording) a bunch of people praying for Obama's death. And they call *us* flakes!

We Brits have more of a tradition of censorship - self censorship as well as imposed by government - which means we are kinda shocked when we come across some of the fundamentalist opinions. But on facebook, they're, if not exactly welcomed, tolerated.

Personally, I think the lack of censorship on the internet generally and facebook in particular is refreshing. Somebody called it humanity's greatest experiment in anarchy to date.

I don't want censorship on the internet. And on facebook, I tend to "ignore" what I don't like, discuss openly with the friends whose politics are not in line with mine ... and generally put it down to experience.

Your mileage may vary ...

Fx

What a bigot. Why not take a screenshot and email it to his bosses - I am not sure whether they would appreciate him promoting bigotry and racism in a public forum?

As an aside, are you sure it's not a joke? There are two spelling mistakes ('Uk' and 'then') and one grammatical error ('less') in that one sentence suggesting that it possibly wasn't created by a native English speaker.

Re Facebook - I tend to unfriend the people I don't like.

Ava x

That's hilarious!! I know I should be offended, but it's basically a bunch of very, very thick people who can barely string a sentence together having a rant!

My O/H is from Algeria and I often joke '...bloody foreigners, you come over here, take our jobs, take our women...' He just laughs. But the sad thing is, people really DO say things like that in all seriousness!

I'm pleased to say they are a noisy and extremely ridiculous minority.

if i ad fings my way i'd pack em off in a big boat n then thay can live on there own island.

I shouldn't laugh, I know, but can't help it!!!!

Well said, people are taking themselves all too seriously. What happened to the good old banter taking p*** out of each other? that brings communities together. It is the greatest connection- laughing together
As for facebook. I got dragged into it but hardly ever visit because I really don't get it. I spend my spare cyber time(that's a good one!) here on Healthy pages.

what I find annoying about facebook is that people put their lives on it, someone I know put a very personal item on it about themselves and partner, then got annoyed when someone mentioned it to their partner. facebook has the potential to reach hundreds of people, what you put on can come back and haunt you, so be sensible.
others can be hurt or offended by comments placed on there.

The funny thing I find about social networking sites like Facebook is what is the point of posting up a bio and all sorts of other info (interests, etc) when your friends should already know that stuff about you. Nearly every category on my Facebook page is empty. The purpose of Facebook is to connect with friends I've lost contact with, not trumpet my life story to the unwashed masses... 😉

What I do find annoying is when I receive offensive wall posts made to other friends' Walls, and because their permissions are wide open, I get barraged with the rubbish. Especially the anti-Obama stuff.

I don't have that sort of thing showing up on my wall. I seem to have ordered my settings so that I only see what I want to see, though I couldn't explain how I did it. It's probably helped not being 'friends' with anyone whose opinions I don't want to hear. A few 'friends' I've 'hidden' so that I don't have to read what they had for breakfast.

It's not *my* friends' opinions, but *their* friends' opinions that propagate to me. I don't want to block my friends, because there are some things they post that I actually like to read. And I haven't yet figured out just exactly what some of the Facebook privacy settings actually mean.

Maybe it's just that my friends' friends are all pleasant people? 🙂

I had a look at that anti immigrant page. Someone there said something like "I'm in Oz now and it's getting the same here." How bizarre. I wonder why he didn't consider himself to be an immigrant?

Overall they seem just an angry and poorly educated bunch, and I wonder what positive contribution they think they're making to society?

Hahaha... just looked at that Facebook page - is it a joke?! Sadly probably not. But this was one of many comments that made me laugh:

"i aint a racist but its a known fact english is the 2nd language in this country now that aint right."

I am not on Facebook but if these comments are typical, then I'll definitely not bother!
