Someone sent me this clip, with the following comment.
Here is a powerful and amazing statement on Al Jazeera television. The woman is Wafa Sultan, an Arab-American psychologist from Los Angeles .
I thought this was an incredibly powerful and potent statement by one very brave woman.
Sharon.
thanks for posting that, sharon... wow, amazing to see someone, a woman as well, verbalise in such a simple and truthful way. but her voice of reason was falling on deaf ears and will do, i fear. 🙁

Powerful stuff, though I was wondering who her sympathies were with at the start.
Powerful stuff indeed.
Yeah......Barafundle, perhaps for the first time on an HP thread we shared the same wonderings! But on balance, she's bang on. I notice that the interview was edited - I wonder how the whole thing went.

Thanks Sharon for posting that! Wow, an Arab-American humanist.agnostic? What a combination and what a brave lady.
There are more and more moderate Muslims speaking out against the fanaticism nowadays but this is the first time I've seen someone who would be considered to be born a Muslim having the guts to go out in public and renounce what she sees is wrong with its literal interpretation.
Whoa!
Judy
PS Just noticed that this went out originally in Feb 2006. Amazing that it has taken this long to get around (at least dubbed)

I was thinking that there might be a twist, and she was going to go on to criticize US foreign policy. I suppose she'd have to forget ever working in the US again if she had.
She made some good points with a lot of force.
