Hi,
I think I've seen this post before somewhere but can't seem to find it. If anyone knows where it is would be great, if not could you please tell me your methods of doing this?
Thanks!
Jo

Personally that is not something that I have ever considered doing when healing, I have always been wide open when I merge with someone to perform healing.
Perhaps you could explain why you feel the need to protect yourself from the person that you are sharing your healing with?

Hi Paul,
Well it's actually that quite a few people that working in healing themselves have advised me to. Everyone seems to have different methods so I was curious. Luckily you have never had to!

Also I have been told my spirit guide wanted to give me that message to look after myself and protect myself when healing.

No, I work on the principle of we are all one, so healing someone else is exactly the same as healing self, but as you say this is one belief amongst many other beliefs which creates fear and distrust in place of open acceptance. 🙂

Did the person who shared this nugget with you happen to believe by any chance, that healers require protection from the people that they are healing. 😀
What effect do you think that choosing to embrace a belief, that you are vulnerable from the person that you are healing, so that you need to protect and isolate yourself from them before you attempt any healing, will have upon you and your healing?
Hi,
I never protect myself either. I work in the light...why do I need protection?
As far as I can tell the only time protection is needed is for when we stop being healers/channels and take on the attitude of a martyr. If we believe we have to take on the sin of another then I'm not surprised people would need protecting.
I always remember that I am not the healer - that amazing job is done by the client - they are the miracle.
Kindest regards,
Christina
Sounds like you've been listening to some serious BS. If you're a massage therapist, it is good to ground yourself, so some say. I never did. If you expect bad things to happen, then, your asking them to. The unconscious is very literal!! ;o)

Hi Jo .
Just as there are energies that wish to help and assist the spread of love and light there are those energies that wish to spread a little darkness and fear .
In my lightwork I have come across such energies that wish to disrupt the flow of light .
One that has felt the effects of such energies would say that a degree of protection is needed .
Our circle work has a chain of living blue that surrounds us this is a chain of high level protection .
We initially didn't call upon such protection it automatically was put in place but protection is there for a reason otherwise it wouldn't be there . It's just that one may not be aware of it being there and for what reasons that would be . ..

Paul, I'm so glad you put it like that as I totally agree with you just hadn't thought of like that.

Yes they told me to heal myself as they had had bad experiences with getting negative energy from someone.

Another valid point.

So true Christina! I guess it hadn't entered my head before and then after strangley having several people tell me at the same that were themselves healers I listened to. Very glad I came on here as I too think its a bit negative to protect yourself from universal energy and that is what you are healing with not the persons energy as I believe, but at the same time you are, its the same thing, if you understand what I'm trying to say? And as Paul said you are both the same, as one so you shouldn't have ot protect yourself.
Thank you all I feel much better about it all no, I will confidently continue as I am and have the right wording/answers to give someone that questions it.:)
Hi Jo
Glad to hear that our posts have helped you to sort this out and you are now happy, we need to check all of our beliefs in a similar manner, to see how they are affecting us and the things which we choose to do. 🙂
Not sure if this is the same thing but when I am treating people I often experience their physical & emotional symptoms (e.g. nausea, pain, aches, sadness, depression etc.). Now I don't know about anyone else, but after the session is over I don't particularly wish to continue feeling those things so I do 'protect' myself in the sense that I ask that unwanted 'energies' do not remain with me and I mentally 'break' any connection made with the client at the end of the session.
I feel you do have to protect yourself because it is easy to get caught up in other people's dramas and to continue thinking about them and their issues long after they've floated out of your treatment room. So to me that is what it's all about.
(Not of form today so I'd be surprised if this makes any sense whatsoever to anyone!)

Thank you for this. I have felt a little teary twice and I do disconnect at the end and this has gone so hopefully this is enough.

That is called empathy which basically allows us to recreate their way of being within self so that we can perceive what is happening to the recipient, in that way we are better suited to help them. 🙂
There is no reason for you to feel that you need to protect yourself from this, as it is you who are creating the symptoms within the fullness of self, so that you are aware of them. When the session is over or during it if you have gained the understanding that this is portraying to you, you can switch it off, but you are right to disengage yourself from the recipient of the healing when you have finished, otherwise you keep on feeding them life force energy. 🙂
I feel you do have to protect yourself because it is easy to get caught up in other people's dramas and to continue thinking about them and their issues long after they've floated out of your treatment room. So to me that is what it's all about.
This is where personal development comes into its own, through developing yourself you can embrace someone whilst you are healing them but you do not allow yourself to become emotionally entangled within the people and their life experiences.
At the end of the healing session, you will simply let go of any empathy that you used whilst healing, we connect fully with them whilst healing but then we fully let go when we are finished, their problems are not our problems, if we carry other people's problems, then we run the risk of passing those onto other people in place of healing.
If all else fails, self heal after a healing session so that you can fully clear yourself, there is no reason to protect yourself from yourself, no one can make you feel anything that you do not want to feel, you need to develop yourself to the point that you are in control of self.
