I want to take my son to Ireland this year to visit the great causeway. Can any one recommend a good place to stay which has lots to do and see in that area. Are there any nice spas, guest houses etc.... in that area. If I hire a car from Belfast what is it like driving to Antrim, I have a terrible sense of direction.

I'm from nI and actually visited the Giants Causeway last year. Its an easy trip from bElfast so I'd say find somewhere there to stay. There's plenty to do in Belfast and you can basically take your pick of things to do in Down and Antrim. Hillsborough Castle is a beautiful place about 30 mins out of Belfast.
In Belfast you have a bus tour of the city which takes in the wall murals, depends on your taste for violent history! There is also the Botanical Gardens next to Queens University in thecentre.
The Ulster Museum used to have a great dinosaur exhibition if your son is young enough for that.
There's also Carrickfergus Castle and the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum.

I'm sure you have looked at the websites for the Giants Causeway and have seen how stunning it is and the surrounding area is beautiful. I'm from Belfast originally but if I was making the trip I'd stay in the Glens of Antrim, stunning scenery and great little villages and towns , Cushendall Cushendun, Glenarffiff, Ballycastle , Torr Head and don't forget to visit Carrickarede with the famous rope bridge
