It would be really great if you can email me those case studies and exam papers. I have case studies to do for cibtac sports massage and case studies. While I have a few clients with different injuries, I dont know how to put the case studies together for the examiners. We had 16hrs class out of 50hrs and we were only told that we have to do case studies for the sports therapy 2 weeks ago. We did not even see a syllabus for this course. Really working blind on this and would greatly appeciateany help with it thanks

Hi RJ,
Thanks for the reply, but have handed in case studies at this stage. Muddled through but there is so much repetition.. Anyway, don't know how they could count for too much of the marking..
Would love to hear from you or anybody who has sat the itec or cibtec in the last few weeks as I know a lot of schools are finished at this stage.
Have been told that lymphatic system popular in questions and also nail. Would like a bit more info though as I sit itec on 5th June and Cibtec on 12th June.... Waaaaah...:(

Hey There All,
Right lets start with CIBTAC sports massage !
Minimum training - 100 hours , 80 hours contact, 50% of which must be spent working in a commercial salon enviroment, 20 hours additional study. ( this means that you have to 100 hours of class time, 80 hours contact with tutor - practical and theory, 40 hours of those should be spent with clients coming in for treatments - some colleges work way around this, and your case studies therefore should take 20hours additional study.
The course is broken down into different areas:
G1 - generic area 1 health and hygiene
G2- Skin structure and function
G3- Skin diseases
G4- Business studies
G5- Salon Procedures
G6- Nutrition
Body massage revision
A + P
Theory of sports injuries
Theory of sports massage
ICER
Heat
Exercise for sports massage
nutrition for sportts
Client care and Consultation
Sports massage practical work
After care and Homecare
Theory paper is multiple choice -25 questions 30 minutes ( changing exam to an hour )
Practical is 45 minutes
Theory paper breakdown:
Number of marks 38
Generic areas of studyquestions18%
Treatment questions 82%
Practical exam you will be marked as follows:
Consultation 14 marks ( 8 to pass)
Prep of client 3 marks
Prep of working area 3 marks
Sports massage questions and heat treatment 40 marks ( 24 to pass)
Hygiene procedures 3 marks
Personal appearance, deportment and attitude 3 marks
Oral questions 14 marks
total 100.
pass 60 - 74%
credit 75- 84%
Honour 85-100%
Unsure of the amount of case studies that must be provided ( think it is 10??? - maybe some one could let me know)
However this would be in contents I would expect from a student:
-Pick injuries of a students choice to include a variet of areas, acute / chronic/ muscle ligaments ect
- detailed anatomy of the injuried area
- detail on injury
-possible causes of injury
- grades of injury
Assement of injury- tests preformed, palpation, AROM,PROM,RROM
-treatment of the injury- what you could do
( Sports therapy - machines you would use and why)
Home care advice
-detailed exercise prescription
-fluids, water coffee,tea
- heat/ ice and how you would do it.
* Diagrams should be included of - anatomy of area, stretches and strenghtening exercises.
On the day of the exam :
You should have your class work folder ready for the examiner to inspect
Log books up to date
Consultation forms
Clients with no back ground in your area - not students
