The first section looks like NASA footage of the moon but then that's fake as they never landed there 😀

Hi Caveman,

I hope the smilie means that remark is a joke, if not, this second page of Great Moon Landing Hoax
Did NASA Fake the Moon Landings?
http://space.about.com/od/astronomyhistory/a/moonhoax_2.htm
has some pretty logical arguments:

Moon Rocks
You want physical evidence? Some of the biggest reasons to accept that the Apollo moon landings were real are rock solid. Apollo astronauts brought 841 pounds of Moon rocks home to Earth, a unique treasure trove that has taught us a great deal about the Moon.

"Moon rocks are truly unique, and differ from Earth rocks in many ways," says Dr. David McKay of NASA's Johnson Space Center, one of the people who run the Lunar Sample Laboratory Facility where most of the Moon rocks are stored. "Several museums, such as the Smithsonian and others, let the public touch and examine rocks from the Moon," says David.

Dr. McKay says that faking a Moon rock to fool scientists around the world would be next to impossible. "It would be far easier to just go to the Moon and get one!" he says.

The Eyes Have It
While the United States was frantically trying to send men to the moon, it "was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water." *

No, not by aliens.

Russia, China, East Germany and other cold-war enemies of the USA closely monitored the lunar missions. It was easy to tell whether the Apollo radio signals were coming from the direction of the Moon, and whether the time delays in conversation matched the distance the signals had to travel. If anything had seemed wrong, surely these unfriendly countries would have loudly shouted to the world that the USA was pulling a hoax! Yet none of them ever questioned NASA's accomplishment. When even your enemy gives you credit for something, it's pretty convincing!

That's a nicely succinct summing up of why the landings were real, I think. (Or, yes, maybe I didn't catch that Jas was joking? )

I think the idea that they were all faked was spread around by two TV or B-cinema fictitious productions? One from the UK was Alternative 3, and the USA brought one out too, starring that "Milion Dollar Man" actor. The fiction caught on, and Alternative 3 in about 1980 was actually done as a spoof, as though it were real.

It's amazing. Polls have it that around 50% of Americans don't believe their own nation ever went there. In a documentary, Buzz Aldrin was visibly upset - he went all the way there, yet now maybe 150 million Americans don't believe him?

Of course, the Soviets also tried to make out that it was a space race, though they were then incapable. So just to steal America's glory, or try to, they managed a few days before the first manned landing to simply hit the moon with an unmanned probe. Just a pathetic PR stunt, really.

Anyway, given that the voyages were real, and nobody else from Earth was out there, what have NASA astronauts seen and filmed, then, hmm?

Have a look at this recent sighting

There is talk about it being a giant smoke ring but if you compare to this

I think you can see the first one seems more solid and a complete shape. They also say it stayed there for 10mins but I'd like to know how it disappeared? Did it just vanish of whoosh off into space 🙂

Oh, and what was the tune on the smoke ring video stereo? Kinda cool 70's hippie stuff like Crosby Stills etc

The music's just vaguely familiar. It could be a lot more recent than the 70s.

Yes, the first clip does look like a discrete object. You can hear comments from people about it, as if everyone's looking up. A pity the taker didn't pan the ground. Smoke? Argument against is that it's not moving with the slow clouds. A true Outer Limits reply occuring to me is that you do seem to see right through the middle ... but could this be a crude attempt at not being too visible?

It'd be important to know the place, since, is it some kind of fixed fairground? What's that structure doing?

PS

As you say, in fact, a whole point would be to know how it went away. The filming should have continued. Did it disperse (like smoke), zoom away, or what...?

Off-topic, but your second clip is from the annual Burning Man gathering. A close friend of mine almost never misses it - it seems like, "Let's get back to the summer of Love, man".
