I have some ancestors way back who came from Scotland to the U.S.
I've traced lineage to Clan Home in Berwickshire, and Clan Stewart of Appin in the western Highlands.
Anyone know anything about these Clans?
I know quite a bit, but the explanations would be too lengthy for this forum. Have you tried googling 'Clan Stewart of Appin' 'Clan Home' etc? You will be inundated with information. I have McFarlane blood in my veins, and, according to the Edinburgh Family Records Office, a couple of others as well! (We go to the EFRO quite often - fantastic place).
While I have done a little research, including a Google search, I'm often frustrated by vague, conflicting, or incomplete information.
It would also seem that what good information I can find has to do more with Earls, Lords and other people of title than anything else.

Most of the Scottish records are online at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk Not sure how far back your family left Scotland, but even old parish records from 1600s & 1700s are available ..... Fasinating and addictive stuff !!
