Yep, they're in my garden eating the fat balls, which they love.

They are alive and kicking here in East London, along with lots of crows, magpies, tits plus a few sparrows and black birds, oh and the occasional robin.

Pigeons we dislike and they seem to be on the increase.

We still have some here in Essex, and magpies, but our blackbirds are back, and are rearing their young. Robins and collared doves (pigeons).

We used to live in a very rural area, but with all the trees cut down and houses replacing them, the birds have flown.

I believe (although my view is not always shared) that to coin a phrase `every dog - or should I say bird - has its day`.

There is lots of talk of certain species going into deline because of for instance, magpies. I believe it is a natural force of nature and should not be meddled with i.e. culling of certain types of birds or indeed animals. When I was young the main species around seemed to be sparrows in fact I had never seen a magpie till a few years ago.

I would guess in years to come we will see less magpies again and more of something else.
