RE: FLOODS

Thanks Sunanda for starting this here too. Our collective prayers and healing are so vital. (My collection of inspiration is at http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=467025 )

We are not just helpless victims, there is a law of good, of harmony, that IS in operation and cannot be hidden. It's not just Britain that needs help either! In Australia, there are parts where it hasn't rained for 5 years and they are walking on river beds, picking up the Victorian beer bottles that were discarded by their ancestors, while here it's the opposite. Listening to the news today about the 500 people who have died in the heat of Europe, with rivers running low and unable to power the hydro-electric plants and how power supplies are collapsing under the demand, it strikes me that we all need to be praying for the spiritual balance and harmony of the universe (which always exists and can never be lost) to be seen and recognised right where the opposite physical seems to be.

In a thread on Weather, http://www.healthypages.net/forum/tm.asp?m=45068 , I tell of a time when a few young people (and my cousin) praying together were awed to find the tide literally turning. It had been going out and they were too late to sail (my cousin had forgotten to take the key of the boat) but while they stood on deck, praying together to know that God was in complete control of every situation, they saw to their amazement, the water coming back up again. And Mary Baker Eddy, when told that the farmer was afraid there would be no water for his cows, said "If only he knew - Love fills that well" - and the next day, the well was full, even though there had been no rain.

The power of a right thought, even in the midst of depressing negativity, is awesome!

"...the atmosphere of the human mind, when cleansed of self and permeated with divine Love, will reflect this purified subjective state in clearer skies, less thunderbolts, tornadoes, and extremes of heat and cold; (MBE writing in Miscellany p 265)

Love and peace,

Judy

Hi Everyone

My heart goes out to all that have been effected by the floods.

People don't really realise how it effects your life until you lived through it or you know someone close that is going through it. Its the aftermath which is worst, the dealing with the clear up and insurance companies etc, everyones experiences are different, everyone seems to have a different story.

It will take time for everyones lives to get back to some sort of normality.
Its been 6 weeks since I was effected and its been difficult and I've got a very good network of family and friends.

My prayers are with everyone, I hope you find the inner strength to cope and a sense of humour to smile when times are difficult.

Hi Jeanette

I was thinking that the worst part must indeed be the weeks (months?) that it will take to get back to something resembling normality. During the actual flooding - at least at the beginning - I would imagine that adrenalin kicks in and you just do what you've got to do. But the sheer physical work of cleaning up afterwards and then dealing with all the paperwork - insurance etc - together with actually physically disposing of all the ruined stuff.....well, that must be just horrific. And expensive. I can't help but wonder how the old people and the single mothers are coping. And of course it won't be news any more so they will think that no one cares about them......My heart goes out to you and everyone else who is having to deal with this.

With love
Sunanda xxxx

Hi Sunanda

Your right at first you run on pure adrenalin and that keeps you busy sorting everything out. It's once every thing calms down a bit and your energy levels run low that it hits you.

Its been 6 weeks and we couldn't even resuce a knife or fork as the water level was too high and only now have we received a cheque which we are waiting to clear, and seeing your belongings on the drive is heart breaking. We had looters down our street and they took my oven, washer & dishwasher which was about 6 years old but they left a fridge/freezer behind which was only 2 weeks old!

There are so many horror stories going round its hard to trust anyone. My neighbour had the builder in to strip out the downstairs of the floors, walls & joists and while the they was in they ransacked his upstairs and stole and damaged things. He now has that to sort out too.

You are right, people do forget with time but it is now when people need the support and encouragement to keep them going through the many months of hard work ahead of them.
