You are right, quite apart from hardship caused by redundancies and the economic recession, Christmas is a desperately lonely, unhappy time for so many people. Let us remember those less fortunate than ourselves - and let us count our blessings. If we have good health, food in our belly, a roof over our head and the company of family and friends, then we are rich indeed.
