I hope no one minds if I jump in here.....just haveing an urge to put my opinion in[sm=scratchchin.gif]
If I've read Lanclot right when he say's
I think you can only develop if they exist in you to start with I personally don't believe that everybody can talk to and see their guides it's those that have a clairvoyant gift that communicate with their guides.
I am of the opinion that we all have at least 1 guide, all depending on how far your naturally developed or how far along A path you've come to. Some people have no desire to meet their guide whilst others try too hard (hence the difficulty with your ego!!) Meditation can be used as a way to still & clear your mind to allow your guide to communicate if they want to at that time in your life. I also believe that alot of guides are ordinary people like you & I still learning....as some wish to develope an ability to communicate at will with their guide I have always felt that on the 'other side' a guide is learning to develope to communicate with them...as you both work together you both evolve, the more perceptive that you become I believe thats when you get introduced to a 'higher level' (not wishing to sound like a computer game here;)) thats when other spirit guides work with you & so on.
Some have already lived a spiritual life & are then blessed with a guide who also was spiritual whilst here in body on earth (ie wise person, witch, Indian ect)
I don't think anyone is different...underneath it all we all have the same ability...it's just a case of believing in yourself, sit back, tune in & enjoy (if thats what you want!!!;)) I don't think of people having a gift as such...their gift is there willingness to share, help others & teach....after all ....I....like you...am spirit too...I'm just here on earth for a while;););)

Great to hear your views, each person is different and I do agree with you that everyone is born with at least one guide, I am aware of at least 7 guides, 3 of which have been with me since I was young, my two Native American Guides have been with me for a shorter time but they are with me for the longer term I am told! I am aware of others that are there for certain teachings or "projects" and will then dissapear, somtimes to come back sometimes to never be seen again. I have only been able to "see and hear" my guides just recently, so even for a seasoned for me it has taken it's time in getting to hearing them!
We all have psychic abitities some more advanced than others, some people don't want to develop this skill, some do and succeed to a certain extent others come on in leaps and bounds. the key is the belief system and setting aside the ego, and that also means being humble to their time span, time has a different meaning to them than to us, time to them is when we are ready, time to us is something that is around us all the time and what we live by, learning to shut that aspect down when meditating or trying to meet guides is I feel the best thing to do!

hello, only new to forum, but have had an experience of my own with my spirit guide and guardian angel. Hope it helps.
I was in a deeply relaxed state, and was told to imagine walking to a leafy glade and to feel every tiny bit as if I was really there, and to sit up against a tree, and to feel myself becoming either part of the tree or at least up in its branches where I was protected and safe and warm, and then to imagine a glowing golden orb. At that point I was left to imagine whatever I wanted whilst listening to peaceful relaxing music. I then had my first(maybe not?) meeting with my guardian angel he emerged out of the orb and took me on a flying visit over the world where I saw sunrises and groups of animals gathered together, I also saw my family and my pets and they were all welcoming me, I also had my spirit guides with me who were flickering lights just behind my shoulders. When I gradually came round I felt euphoric and couldn`t stop smiling and laughing, it was truly exhilarating and emotional.
so basically I think you have to reach a state of total relaxation and then ask your guide/angel to make you aware of him/her(orboth) - it may help considerably to go to see a spiritual healer - who took me through this and taught me to reach the deeply relaxed state.

Hello sarjo, lovely and a truly wonderful journey. I meet my little dog in my spiritual garden from time to time and also we played together in the water, were the waterfall bring down it's healing energys. Lovely place to learn and enjoy the teaching from are guide.

If i can say something here? it will probably help if you get rid of any preconceptions about contact with the spirit world. it won't necessarily be a conversation as such, not as we have with each other, altho for some it is. sometimes it will be a sensing, other times a smell or touch, or a picture in your mind. setting aside a particular time of day just to relax and be open on a regular basis is a good place to start. i must admit that it wasn't until i attended a spiritual circle that i was able to be aware of my guides/angels. my mind was just too busy!!!!!
