PS

The other interesting aspect is that both wine and water represent the divine feminine.

Glory be to GOD

Oh, Thou, who didst with pitfall and with Gin
beset the road I was to wander in.
Thou wilt not with predestination round enmesh me, and impute my fall to sin?

Sorry, but 'gin' to me here still means a trap. I'm positive it's not a reference to alcohol but to the traps that wait to snare us along the way.

Are we talking at cross-purposes, Sunanda? Yes, I agree! I took it that you meant 'gin' was a word having an etymological root link to 'trap', but you simply mean the real if metaphorical meaning? Yes, that's what my opinion would be as said above: that being 'intoxicated' is used by Khayyam half the time to refer to maya and illusion as in daily life. To me, being in a 'trap' and being in maya is basically the same thing, and as you quote above, he also uses 'enmeshed'.

Enmeshed in maya, one simply cannot see Reality clearly. This world of the physical and of the five senses isn't exactly a 'dream' as some say - there's a reality behind it, and our actions, as Hinduism would put it, do all trigger karmic cycles, of good, unfortunate, or neutral karma - but it's nevertheless like living in thick smoke with everyone else wearing masks. Who can blame those with a mystical penchant for wanting to get out and above it all? Who'd willingly stay entrapped once they realise that they are? The reason most people settle for this world and its ways is because the 'trap' of maya is very clever insofar as people don't realise they're in it.

The senses come from your soul and so it is for us to be in tune with our souls we must also allow the senses of the soul to be expressed - for the soul is sentient.

I was sent a mail shot about a new book and this quote sums up my own view and experience perfectly. "The truth is that enlightenment is neither remote nor unattainable. It is closer than your skin and more immediate than your next breath. If we wonder why so few seem able to find that which can never be lost, we might recall the child who was looking in the light for a coin he dropped in the dark because "the light is better over here." Mankind has spent ages looking in the light for a coin that awaits us not in light and not in dark, but beyond all opposites. GOD is beyond all religions and philosophies” Jed Mckenna

What we call basic truths are simply the ones that some discover after all the others. When you move beyond the stepping stone of the Maya of Illusion, there is no right or wrong, there is no earthly limitation all is oneness with the creator. All is beautiful seen through GOD’s eyes, for beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. In your own self realisation and communion with GOD there is no separation, it is beyond all opposites, it is a new plane of existence and state of GOD consciousness.

You are in this world but not of this world.

Life becomes a celebration of pure joy and ALL is love.

The Grace of GOD and oneness with GOD and all that IS - Unity Consciousness.

Do you imagine you can realise this NOW, this realisation of perfection that blossoms like the most beautiful rose unfolding into the fullness of GOD's creation. You cannot find it in books or poetry the only thing that stands in the way of people is the person themselves.

The enlightened child matures like a fine wine into the full embodiment of enlightenment.

Onwards and upwards dear ones for now I must leave you and this wonderful thread of sharing the sublime.

Glory be to GOD

Love beyond measure and big hugs

Confusingly, on maya, I wrote:

ORIGINAL: venetian

it's nevertheless like living in thick smoke with everyone else wearing masks

I just realised how confusing this is. 😉 I had in mind not that others are wearing masks to protect against the 'smoke' but as my mind was on Venice I was thinking of not only smoke but even, on top of that, that you can't tell who someone really is anyway, as it's a masque: we only see appearances.
