Hi all
I noticed on another thread that a member was asked if they where a sceptic, I admitt it worried me a little how they where sked ( in the tone I mean) as I too am a sceptic.
So I'm just checking before I gt re-stuck in on here am I/sceptics welcome?
I promise you, hand on heart I am in no way trying to turn believers into non believers, each to there own I say, we all haveour reasons/experiences, and if your wondering...well if your a sceptic why you here?I can only answer...because you never know. To date, i admitt, nothing yet has cut te mustard with me....but....that's no saying one day it won't. I am open, I promise you.
So just checking as the last thing I want to do isupset the apple cart but at the same till I would like to feel fre to expres my humble opinion, and see where what you say leads me.
Much love
Sharon
RE: Are Sceptic welcome?
I for one would definatly say hurrah to some healthy scepticism.
There is nothing wrong in seeing a diferent side to something as long as it isnt ridiculed, (or critisised for its spelling or grammer) thats the whole point as far as I'm concerned. If we dont question things we dont understand, then how can we ever expect to understand/develop or grow?
Just my very humble opinion:)
PS, I missed your inquring mind:D
RE: Are Sceptic welcome?
sceptics are totally fine, don't bother me, i think it is nice to be respectful, but as hopeful says, balance is important,

Oi! ... where did you spring from :D....
If you are indeed my old friend Super Shazza - then boy am I glad your back Hun [sm=1syellow1.gif]
In answer to your question, as we once discussed before even Buddha said "be a lamp unto yourself" but I think the sign-off in Hugo's posts is probably the most excellent advice for all of us -
"Qu'ran 17:36 'You shall not accept any information, unless you verify it for yourself. I have given you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brain, and you are responsible for using them.' "
Good to have you back

Roger
RE: Are Sceptic welcome?
Sceptism is healthy, but blind faith concerns me, but it gets more complicated.
Often those that proclaim to be sceptical are often as subjective as those that deride anyone that holds a belief in anything that they don't appreciate.
Whilst I can respect someone that has the courage of conviction of what they believe in, I find it more difficult to appreciate those that can ony deride any beliefs that another may hold.
It seems to be a form of sniping in a wild hope of actually building a belief of their own or basing one on another's that has managed to generate a celebrity status based on nothing but an anti belief in anything.
My advice for those would be - If you believe in nothing else, then at the very least believe in yourself. Until you do that then you will be looking for approval from others from now until eternity. Failing that - start studying science and the 'scientific method' and sooner or later you will have to address the quantum issue that holds no fixed answers or rationale and you'll be forced to consider that the rock that you have clung to all this time is actually a rock.
To understand this whole conundrum, then it helps to go back to the Greek philosphers. First there were the Sceptics and later a branch off group called the Cynics.
The modern day usage of these terms seems to have lost their original meaning, as by the original definition I would be a cynic, but apparently now I am a sceptic. [&:]
