Hi all,

I keep dreaming about sharks.

I'm in the water or I'm on a boat or on a bridge and all around me are sharks.... one of my dreams involved one being badly treated and dispite my fear I tried to help it - but more on a "non-touching" sort of a way like speaking to it and stuff. Another dream involved me looking over a bridge and my mum was in the water (she's pretrified of water) and I could see them swimming round her, as the water was only up to her knees she was saying to me "it's alright, don't worry" and I'm saying to her "just keep looking at me and walk slowly" then I actually see one of them bite her foot and there's blood and then I help bandage her foot and I'm shouting "someone help me".

These dreams started before all the news reports of sharks round the UK.

What do you think that means? Sorry my message is sooooo long!

🙂

RE: Sharks

Afraid I can't answer your question for you, but I have always had dreams of sharks myself.

They come to me at difficult times, and although I grew up in the jaws era, being afraid to swim in the sea for fear of shark attacks, I found them to be, for themost part,a nurturing and protecting force in my dreams.

I'm no dream interpreter, but I just get the impression there's something you're working on or experiencing which is bothering you, are you afraid for your mums safety? Do you feel the need to protect her right now?

I think what one percieves as good, can be bad for another and vice versa.. plus as your needs / interests change the focus of that object, be it a shark or something else which pops up in your dreams, may change and serve a new purpose.

Hi Siany3

These are interesting dreams. Sharks can symbolise your own feelings of anger and hostility towards someone you think is being rather ruthless and insensitive, someone with no regard for the wellbeing of others.

Sharks can also indicate an emotional period in your life where you might be dealing with something difficult or painful.

Seeing your mother in the dream signifies the nurturing aspect of your own character and may indicate that you haven't been giving enough time to the things that are important in your life.

The fact that you are in a boat signifies your ability to cope with a situation and the ability to express your emotions. The water is dangerous because there are sharks so it could be a situation you are coping with but know deep down that you have to confront someone to get it sorted out properly. Perhaps you are holding back from telling someone how you really feel.

RE: Sharks

Hi Sandra,

That makes complete sense! It might be the whole holding back telling someone something.

I don't think I have any anger or anything and but I am quite protective of my mum - she is my best friend and I know it sounds strange but my mum swears that in another life I was her mum so that might be were the whole protection thing comes from.

I really appreciate your interpretation - it makes a lot of sense 😀

Please everyone else.... go ahead if you have anything you'd like to add 🙂

RE: Sharks

Hi Siany3, Here is some info on the shark as an animal guide, hope it helps.

[color="#000000"]The Shark [color="#000000"]Sharks are viewed stereotypically as dangerous. Singly, and when they are not hungry, sharks tend to be quite peaceful. They can be trained to do simple tasks such as distinguishing certain objects from others in the water, and the ringing of a bell for a meal when in captivity. In large groups however, they can become unpredictable and may frenzy. In order to remain calm and centered shark medicine people require time to themselves. If they do not have time alone they can become irritable, anxious and aggressive in their behavior. [color="#000000"]Sharks have incredibly sensitive noses that can smell one drop of blood in 50 million times as much water. They can feel the pressure waves made by a struggling fish and are sensitive to electromagnetic currents. They teach those with this totem how to develop and refine their own sensory abilities. The study of aromatherapy would benefit those with this medicine. [color="#000000"]The shark has no swim bladder and must swim perpetually to keep from sinking to the bottom. Water has always been associated with emotional transformation. By observing the sharks swimming patterns we learn how to rise out of our emotional discord efficiently. [color="#000000"]Sharks have been known to inspire great terror because they have the power of the predator, fearless and unpredictable. The shark offers the power of protection to those who resonate to it. When there is something in your life that you need to frighten away call upon the shark to help you. In the course of our learning we can attract events and people that are disharmonious. Working with shark medicine gives you the power and confidence to drive off negative elements or eliminate them completely
