Not really sure where to post this...
For the last week or so, I've had a mildly odd feeling in the right side of my abdomen. In the last few days, the pain, which at first was a pinpoint between the bottom of my ribs and the top of my hip, started spreading and getting more, well, painful. It spread down to my groin and up to my ribs. At first I thought it was appendicitis, but after checking with a few people whom I know have had it, I know it isn't. Today, it started becoming more prominent. This afternoon, it started radiating toward my back. The pain is now almost entirely between that original point between my ribs and hip and pretty much directly behind it in my back, only ever so slightly higher. It's almost entirely out of the areas near my hip and ribs. I've been testing to see whether it hurts when I press on it, and it does not. It doesn't hurt to crack my back the way I like to (leaning backward over my chair, grabbing the back of the chair and turning), it doesn't hurt more when I laugh, cough, sneeze, nothing. It doesn't hurt more when I do something that would normally make this kind of pain worse, but the pain doesn't ever seem to actually lessen. If anything does make it worse, it does in such a small way that I don't notice it.
I don't know if it's connected at all, but this morning I also woke up with my throat hurting every time I swallowed. Strange simile ahead: My mouth also felt a bit like something scaly crawled in there and disintegrated, leaving all of its scales to just kind attach themselves to the inside of my mouth and throat. On top of that, I've also been producing a lot of excess phlegm.
Again, I don't know if that's connected at all, and if not, it has some amazing timing.
I've gone to WebMD and put in all of the symptoms, but to no real avail. I watched a TV show a while back (a few years, at this point), and one of the doctors on that show said that there are two kinds of doctors, lumpers and splitters; lumpers putting everything together and looking at everything, splitters looking at everything separately. The WebMD symptom checker, unfortunately, is a splitter. Also it's not an actual doctor, so I can't entirely trust it. Also WebMD is apparently stuck on the idea that everyone who breathes a little hard is dying of something or another. The only reason I go back there is because they have the most expansive symptom checker.
...Anyway...
I have not yet gone to see a doctor, because I am absolutely broke. If any other information is needed, though, I'll do my best to help clarify.
Hi DW  Welcome to HP.
I would suggest you SHOULD see the doctor - it might be a kidney problem and it could get considerably worse if left untreated. It might be and infection - you have more or less eliminated muscular problems.
Does a chemist test urine with an indicator stick which would show whether there is protein in the urine? Otherwise ask the practice nurse to test it at the doctor's. Take a sample with you - also look at your urine in the glass jar (jam jar?) to see if it is crystal clear or not - that's a good indicator of whether a UTI infection is involved.
Whether this info fits into lumpers or splitters is irrelevant!
Hope it gets sorted soon.
DW110 - are you in the USA? (Reference to payment for visit to doctor makes me think you are). Have you considered visiting a local state hospital emergency room? If your problems are kidney related, then reading about symptoms on a websearch is pretty pointless - it's not something that aspirin will solve. Seek medical help - no one here is qualified to diagnose. You could try visiting a local pharmacist and asking for their advice - the actual pharmacist, not his/her assistant!
When we lived in the States, we had to take our child to the ER in the middle of the night - I understand completely about the obsession with payment - they wouldn't give her drugs until my husband had given them his credit card! Thank all the Dieties for the NHS!
I am in the US, and I unfortunately don't have any health benefits as of yet. I have an appointment in a fortnight to see if I'm eligible, but I don't want to wait that long, honestly.
As for kidney problems, I really can't be entirely sure it's that, because I'm still urinating at the same relative frequency and it isn't cloudy at all.
If you can't access a medical clinic, then you may have to find an online diagnostic service in your state - this UK based forum is not one - the membership here are mainly complementary therapists and legally cannot diagnose - please go to your nearest pharmacist - they may be able to guide you to someone who could diagnose remotely.
I know this is just a forum, but I was hoping to get some kind of advice, hopefully from someone who experienced something similar.
I did go to the hospital tonight, they did a urinalysis and blood tests, all of which came back negative for anything out of the ordinary.
As already mentioned nobody can offer a diagnosis, but I think the possibility of it being kidney related might be close to the mark, as the symptoms sound similar to when I had a kidney stone. This doesn't necessarily have to make your urine cloudy, though you may get spots of blood coming out. It certainly can give pain in the kidney region and going down to the groin area especially if a stone has disloged and is travelling down to the bladder, as it can scratch the tube on the way down or become lodged in there.
Whatever it may be, you certainly need to see a doctor.
Hope you find out what it is.

Well, I just spent a week in the hospital (spontaneous pneumothorax) and while I was there, they did an ultrasound on the entire region where my pain is (nowhere near where my kidney is - once again, it's almost entirely in my abdomen), and they couldn't find anything. More blood and urine tests were done and once again, nothing.
Sorry to hear that they haven't found out what it is. Are you still in pain? x
They still don't know, no, but I am feeling a bit better. Thanks. 🙂
Hi DW
Glad you are feeling a bit better! Why the spontaneous pneumothorax - there has to be a cause? Was there any infection involved? Might this not have been the seat of your original pain?
If the answer to these is don't know/no - might food intolerance be involved?
Well, I am very tall and thin (6', 140lbs), and a male smoker. The doctors and nurses told me that I'm a prime candidate for a completely spontaneous lung collapse.
Fortunately, though, through many X-Rays and a couple of CT scans, they couldn't find any blebs, so it might (hopefully) be a one time thing.

I hope so too - for your sake.
Thinking about it, your body mass index is very low - and how much are you eating in the way of fruit and veg - especially the bright and darkly coloured ones which supply beneficial phytonutrients to help the body keep functioning well? And are you taking omega oils - fish oil or flaxseeds ground up or oil - amongst other things these are essential for the functioning of every cell in the body, being part of the structure of the cell walls. They also help reduce inflammation and a vital investment in your good health. Are you eating a wholefood diet? see here, and here too. That is, no processed or white foods? It will genuinely make all the difference to your health if you did.
Wishing you all the best.

They pains are like contractions i did go to the doctors they said it was wind after i had my daughter they also did urine test blood test and swabs all of them came back normal so what could have gone wrong i just dont get it please reply if some one gets the same pain or something because i get really stressed thinking i have something wrong with me and it feels as if i cant get on with my life until this is resolved..
Hi there
Have you had your gallbladder checked? My daughter and a neice recently had babies and now BOTH of them have been suffering with gallstones. Apparently this can happen during pregnancy because of hormonal changes. The pain you describe sounds very similar to my daughter and neice's symptoms (both thought they were suffering with wind). My daughter had her gallbladder removed two weeks ago and my neice has just got her surgery appt through. Does it get worse if you have anything to eat with a high fat content?
I hope you get to the bottom of this soon
Love and light
