We need more guys like this!
That article made me chuckle!!! That could be made into a very funny film, I think. A lone man on a mission...
I think he's wasting his time. Bin Laden is probably long-dead.

He may be nuts, but I agree that the world is enriched by eccentrics at times. The idea of making it into a movie (only needs to be low-budget, and who would take the leading role? Nicholas Cage?) is a stroke of genius: I could really see that being done entertainingly, with serious points thrown in.
Some months back I did begin a thread along the lines that while it can't be proven, and I'm not 100% convinced, there's a high likelihood that the real bin Laden did indeed die years ago, yes.

Yes, I think that's what opened my eyes to the possibility. The big shock to me that was revealed somewhere in your postings is that Osama bin Laden denied being behind 9/11 and I seem to remember you posed the question, that if it wasn't him, who the heck was it? Was it him, wasn't it him? What do we know?
As for the movie, I was thinking George Clooney, though now you point it out Nicholas Cage is certainly a contender for the role.
What possesses someone to take it upon themselves to go out and single-handly try kill a internationally wanted man? I love it, it's one of the best stories I've heard in a long while. That man lives in a little world of his own, I'd like to know how things work in his head. Is he a mad-man or a genius?
lol, love it.
I think it should be Dog, The Bounty Hunter !!
JoJo, that's just made me laugh out loud!!
I might try to think of a title, now... And what would the boomy cinema voice-over script be for the trailer?
" Gary was an ordinary man... on an extraordinary mission... a lone assasin on the trail of the world's most wanted man..."
It's true, Tigerlily. The clearly real bin Laden was quite bemused on videos by 9/11 as that year progressed, and kept saying, in effect, "It wasn't me!" Then at politically useful times, fake bin Ladens seem to have been introduced by video (clearly not him) and audio tapes.
Hm, so who is behind the fake tapes? And why do the media accept them so uncritically?

I'm curious V. Have you ever met bin Laden? How do you know it was 'the clearly real bin Laden' in the videos? 😉

The real bin Laden - though it's quite a while back now, is easily recognisable in the now-old videos; besides which, he had a following of thousands who followed him and knew him.

My point is that when a 'new' video is released to Al Jazeera, that video is exhaustively researched and dissected (both visibly and audibly) by some very good analysts in the CIA. So I personally would hesitate before I try to claim 'real' vs 'fake' bin Ladens... 😉
And to add to your comment about the media accepting these videos uncritically - I think you'll find that the serious reporting only uses the videos that have been verified by the CIA...

LOL, that would prove them authentic, then, hey? 🙂 We can always trust the CIA ...
Seriously, the main conspiratorial view behind the concept (and considerable evidence (see thread on the subject) is that factions within the West, and one supposes that means factions within the USA, first "used" bin Laden as a scapegoat for 9/11 (as he appeared bemused and denied involvement right afterwards), but since there's some evidence he died in December of that year (see thread on that), it's been necessary to keep a stream of video and audio tapes from fake "bin Ladens" coming. I think these are increasingly audio, as the videos are so unlike him ... he seems to be getting younger as the years progress. The Tora Bora range, and living in hiding, must be good for one's health?
I'm just raising the conspiracy issue here theoretically, not emotively. If Western factions are maintaining a false myth that bin Laden survived ailing kidneys etc, because this creates a "bogey man" to justify a military presence in Afghanistan and wherever comes next, then it's not exactly logical to say in effect, "But the tapes are authentic: the CIA say so!" :). Who else but CIA factions would have created the tapes?

Well, I hope you have your tinfoil hat on to keep out those CIA mind probes. 😮
Seriously though, you'll distrust the CIA but you *will* trust bin Laden, the Taliban and Al Jazeera? Fine. I have nothing futher to add... 🙁

Yeah ... Given that against international law and their own nation's law, and ours, they apparently have the de facto power, which they've practised upon others, to "disappear" me, fly me around to other nations on secret flights ('extraordinary rendition'), and then waterboard torture me, among other tortures, keeping me "missing" for years ... I don't think I'd exactly trust them, thank you! 😮
And that's not even conspiracy theory - just what they do.

Thank you for the obvious. Now please elaborate on why you trust bin Laden, the Taliban, and Al Jazeera...

I didn't reply to that previously, as I don't of course completely trust. LOL, but:
I've a correspondent in Kuwait who happily watches Al Jazeera for its global footie coverage. We can trust that? I'd guess that neither you nor I know much about the channel.
The Taliban are not a conspiracy in the usual sense, as they are open as to their intentions, I'd say. I suppose that may even mean that we can "trust" what they say: they do as they say they intend to do, as a conventional enemy. (You are not mixing them up with al-Qaeda?)
I'm not sure that "trusting" bin Laden or not is now relevant: what may be more relevant is whether he has in fact been long-dead, but his appearance as being alive as the "great enemy" kept going by Western factions.
