My degree was in integrative counselling.  By using a variety of approaches either eclectically or standalone, gives you more options to work in the preferred way of the individual.  The approaches I have studied on my Degree are Psychoanalysm, CBT and Humanistic theories.  I use these interchangeably depending on the nature of the client and their own circumstances.  Being a counsellor came about after my own personal therapy, which created an interest in myself and my own personal development which I have found invaluable in helping me cope with lifes difficulties.  Understanding myself and others I have found to be extremely rewarding and humbling and through my work with others, I can understand further knowledge about myself.  Since my training started in terms of my degree, I have completed an Eco-therapy course, Laughter therapy, Dementia training, Autism focus, I have worked in bereavement and many other behavioral areas. Constantly training, reflecting and understanding new ideas are part of the never ending growth that is vital to move with new generations.
