Hi there
I am an experienced BACP Registered and Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I offer both short and long term therapy in central Exeter. I work with young people, Adults and Couples.
I have appointments in the daytime or evenings to suit your needs.
The purpose of Counselling is to support you with difficulties or issues you may be facing, providing a non judgmental space, to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a safe and confidential setting. I offer kindness and empathy and over 14 years experience of working therapeutically with all life issues.
My role is to facilitate our work together in ways that respect your values and beliefs. I believe that we have all the resources that we need inside of us, my aim is to help you locate them.
I work with a whole spectrum of life issues including but not limited to, Anxiety, Stress, Bereavement, Low Self Esteem, Domestic Violence, Trauma, PTSD, Sexual Abuse, Sexuality, LGBT, Autism, Relationship Difficulties, Addiction, Eating Disorders, OCD, Sexuality, Depression and Mental Health Problems.
My approach is integrative, meaning that I am trained and experienced in using several different approaches and models of Therapy. This enables me to personalise and tailor our sessions to working in a way that feels right and comfortable for you.
The quality of the relationship between Therapist and Client is of paramount importance to me. I work to create an atmosphere of warmth, trust and acceptance.. By walking alongside you, I can help you to unpick difficulties and learn to trust your own judgement in making decisions.

I am an Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with BACP (’MBACP Accred’). This means that I have achieved a substantial level of approved training, experience and my practice has been deemed to meet the standard for a competent, ethical and independent practitioner.
I have an up to date DBS check and am fully insured.
I am also trained in EMDR.EMDR is an acronym for 'Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing'. EMDR is a powerful psychological treatment method that was developed by an American clinical psychologist, Dr Francine Shapiro, in the 1980s
According to guidance from the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) EMDR is one of the treatments of choice for trauma and PTSD alongside Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
A wealth of research on the efficacy of EMDR has been conducted, demonstrating its benefits in treating psychological trauma and PTSD from trauma associated with war related experiences, childhood sexual and/or physical abuse or neglect, natural disaster, assault, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents.
Since its original development, EMDR is also increasingly used to help people with phobias, anxiety, pain management, and depression. EMDR has been found to be of benefit to both adults and children, people with learning difficulties, language barriers or those that can’t give details of the trauma.
When someone experiences a traumatic or distressing event, they may feel overwhelmed and their brain may be unable to process the information like a normal memory. The distressing memory seems to become stuck on a neurological level. When they recall the distressing memory, they can re-experience what they saw, heard, smelt, tasted or felt, and this can feel overwhelming. Sometimes the memories are so upsetting; the person tries to avoid thinking about the event to avoid experiencing the distressing feelings./p>
I also offer a Supervision service to other Therapists.
