About Fully qualified Reflexologist
Feeling tired, stressed or need to just relax? Then give Reflexology a try. My name is Kathryn Ryan and I am a fully qualified and insured Reflexologist. I provide a mobile service, offering treatments in the comfort of your own home.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy in which the therapist uses their thumbs and fingers to apply pressure to the client’s feet and/or hands.
Reflexology is based on the ancient principles that energy is flowing all around our bodies. If the energy can flow freely then we are balanced and healthy. If the energy is obstructed an illness may result.
The theory is that the feet mirror the body. All organs, systems and glands of the body can be mapped onto areas of the feet called reflex points. A reflexologist knows how to stimulate the reflex points in order to bring about a response in the corresponding part of the body.
Through working these reflex points I will aim to stimulate the body’s own natural healing ability to restore the body’s normal healthy balance and energy.
Some conditions that Reflexology can help:
Stress and anxiety
Stress related conditions
Breathing disorders
Hormonal imbalances
Sleep disorders
Digestive problems
Headaches
Skin problems
Adrenal disorders
Muscular and joint pain
I also offer Hand Reflexology:
Hand Reflexology
Hand Reflexology is just as effective as foot reflexology. There are reflex points on the hands that correspond to every organ, gland and part of the body and by using the unique thumb and finger techniques on these reflexes, the body responds by relaxing, rebalancing and improving blood circulation. The hands are not as sensitive as the feet and the reflex points are much deeper, however a hand reflexology treatment can be extremely beneficial.
And finally, I can also offer: Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage has been practised in India for over a thousand years.
How does it work?
The aim of an Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders.
What does it involve?
The client, fully clothed, sits in a chair for the treatment. I will use a range of different movements including application of deep kneading and compression movements over the neck, shoulder and scalp areas. In addition, I will also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face. The session will usually last from twenty to forty-five minutes.
What are the benefits?
Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension.
What conditions can an Indian head massage help?
Tension Headaches / Migraines
Tinnitus and other ear problems
Helps hair loss and thinning
Muscle tension – neck, shoulder stiffness
Eye strain
Insomnia
Sinus congestion
Stress, Anxiety, Depression
What are the side effects and when should it be avoided?
Following a treatment some clients experience tiredness, dizziness, an increase desire to urinate (as the body eliminates toxins and waste materials) or aching muscles. All of these side effects usually last for no more than a few hours, after which clients generally experience increased energy and alertness. An Indian head massage should be avoided if you have had recent surgery, or a head or neck injury.
