Hi all

I've recenlty bought Richard Gordon's Quantum Touch book as it is something to which I'm drawn and am considering a course. HOWEVER, I am a wee bit confused about the breathing techniques. Do you do these throughout the session - and, if so, isn't it noisy?! Does this put the client off? I am a Reiki Master and do focus my breath during treatments, but not so that it is exhaled and inhaled as forcefully as appears to be the case with QT.

Also, how do you start a session? Do you need to mentally prepare and then do all the breathing exercises before starting? Richard Gordon talks about people running energy into babies when they have jabs - surely you don't do all the noisy breathwork then? Very confused .....AND it makes me dizzy![:'(]

Your thoughts, advice and tips would be most welcome!

Love and light

RE: Qunatum Touch Breathing

Hi Whitelight.
I'm a Reiki practioner and use QT - been on a video course and read the book.
I experimented with the noisy breathing at first, afterinforming my clients what I was up to, and that was fine, but over time I've evolved a technique where I use QT quietly and not so forcefully! I have also asked my clients to breathe in the QT way as I'm treating themand have had good results.
Have fun with it.
Sharon.

RE: Qunatum Touch Breathing

Hello Whitelight and Sharon:
I also used to "breath loudly" when I was learning to do Quantum Touch, but learned from one of the advanced instructors that Richard's example in the interactive video is slightly exagerated.
The Breathing is not very noisy or forceful, but the breaths are full (belly AND chest), deep, and with mouth open. They are noisy only if you are blowing out and sucking in breath (indicating you are working too hard and/or your mouth is not open enough), but this isn't the kind of breathing you want anyway.

The breaths are *just* audible, but if you keep your mouth open as if enunciating "aahh" (but not so open you are showing your uvula at the back of your throat:)), they won't be noisey/loud, and you'll keep a high volume of steady airflow moving in and out of your lungs. Using the diaphragm muscle under the stomach to move the air in and out is the key.

Once the energy is flowing, you can back off a little more, and then crank it up with the firebreathing from time to time.

Once you get used to how the energy flow feels and works, it gets a lot easier. I've found the QT sweeping and breathing technique to powerfully enhance the effectiveness of the healing energy coming through, particularly for physical healing issues.

As for how you start, you just start running energy and either start with the structural alignment or put your hands where the pain or problem is (and then "chase the pain").

Hope this helps!
Blessings,
Alfred
