Hello,
Just thought I'd share something that works wonderfully well on dry/damaged hair.
My Grandmother recommended warming a little olive oil in a pan and applying directly to dry hair, it works wonders and really adds moisture and shine. See, no need for all those expensive salon treatments after all!
Has anyone any other tips for very dry hair? I like trying different natural remedies.
I think Olive Oil has to be the best Rosie, or coconut oil. Anyone trying this, remember to shampoo first then wet hair otherwise you will never get it out lol x

I find the best thing for removing heavy oilings is conditioner. I leave the conditioner on for about 20 minutes sometimes more and this removes even very heavy oils like castor oil.
Other tips for dry hair.....well JoJo already mentioned coconut oil which is my favourite. Yogurt deep treatments i find very good too. A mix of 2 parts conditioner, 1 part aloe vera gel and 1 part honey used as a conditioning treatment can work wonders for dry hair.
Diluted cider vinega used as a final rinse after washing also leaves the hair more silky feeling once it has dried.
Yeah I've been meaning to try coconut oil, it smells so good and reminds me of being on holiday!
I heard someone else talking about this recently and they swear by using oil in their hair. I've also heard good things about beer and raw eggs (not together) I think it's something to do with the proteins helping to feed the hair.

Traditionally Indian women (and some men) rub a range of oils in their hair to leave it glossy and shiney. All oils will nourish the hair, it's just that some are better for certain hair types.
As a child my grandmother used to rub coconut oil into my hair every week and my mum swears that's why my hair was so soft and shiney as a child. She says that as soon as I grew into a teenager and stopped using the oil my hair became worse 😉 I regularly use oils in my hair now and hair seems to be back to being less dry and more shiney.
Coconut, Jojoba, amala (ayurvdic oil) and Olive are all great. Also can use live yoghurt for dandruff, rosemary for dark hair and chamomile for fair hair.
The book "Indian Head Massage" by Narendra Mehta has loads of info in there about different natural hair conditioners and treatments, including the aloe vera, beer, various herbs and oils.
wow, is this really effective?
Hi Mate
The hair loss might be due to several factors like pollution, stress, deficiency of food. I suggest you to use Almond oil for hair as it makes hair strong and looks shiney and there would be no breakage of hair.

I use coconut oil to treat my frizzy and dry hair, it leaves my hair smooth and shiny but I like to try some olive oil too. Thanks for this post Rosie and I will definitely try this at home. You can also use some Morrocan oil in your hair but it's a bit expensive.
I agree with Rosie B. Olive oil is a miracle, no doubt. This is the king of oils and rich in Vitamin E. Vitamin E is known for its ultimate benefits for skin, nails, hair etc. So, Olive oil is not only good for hair, but its also very beneficial for skin as it has natural healing power that heals damages and dry skin. My mother has a rough dry skin so wrinkles started appear on her face due to dryness but with 2 massages of Olive oils, her skin begin to shine..
