This image shows roughly where the pain is. I've had this pain on my right leg for a number of years now ever since it was thumped playing football, but I haven't really done anything about it because day-to-day it is fine. It only hurts (and by hurts, throbs/aches, not agonising) when...

a) I twist my leg inwards (that is, keep my bum and foot in the same position but twist my knee inwards). This is the main 'hurter'
b) do A LOT of exercise involving running. I went for an 80 mile cycle ride the other day, and it didn't hurt at all either during or after. What does make it hurt is a sport like football which involves loads of sprinting, and even then I can still manage to play a 90 minute game (it aches at the end). However I haven't played a full game for ages now (because of work) but the pain hasn't gone away.
c) When I bring my heel to my buttocks it hurts too.

I am thinking the pain is because of my gastrocnemius muscle (the upper part of the calf muscle), either a really REALLY small tear or a strain. Stretches will heal it I believe, but because the problem is right at the top of the muscle I haven't found any stretches that work, since most calf stretches target the centre of the gastroc.

So my questions are, will general calf stretches help target the top? Are there any stretches that target the top of the calf/knee more? Is my pain even to do with the gastrocnemius?

This is my first post, so thanks for reading :)

I sprained it about 2 weeks ago playing football and stopped all sports and exercise on it for about a week and half so it could heal which I thought it did. So once I thought it healed so I played againand rolled it inwards. I can walk on it but I don't feel like I can run on it or that I can squat on it, it does hurt a bit when I walk on it. Now I know what to do with a sprained ankle rest it, ice it, compress it & elavate it but I work on my feet all day lifting or standing and I can't really have weeks off to let it heal properly. Is there anything I can do? I have purchased a ankle support to wear at work to hopefully help it and I have got it iced and elevated as we speak. What shall I do?

I have been having a funny pain in my left leg lately. It occurs either straight away when I go to bed, or in the morning before I wake up. I get it whenever I have had more than a minimum of calcium in my food.

Ten years ago, cancer treatment left me with maldigestion, and I have to take various supplements for that.
During a period when I had very little milk products, this also included calcium. Then I started having custard daily, and forgot to stop the calcium, so for quite a while I had too much of it.
This was when I developed the pains.

Having finally twigged that I was taking too much calcium, I stopped, of course. However, this is now three weeks ago, and I still get the pains. This does not seem to improve. Unless I have hardly any calcium in my food at all - which cannot be right, surely? Today I had cabbage, some bits of turnip and 3 spoonfuls of custard, which was apparently too much. Also I wonder why it is just my left leg?
Does it take that long for hypercalcemia (if that's the name) to disappear?
Thanks!

I wondered if anyone had any advice for removing loose bodies in the knee - tiny bone fragments possibly which cause pain on climbing stairs/cycling/squatting, with lots of creaking and crunching. I'm very much into homeopathy but not come across a remedy as yet which has helped - if indeed there is one for this issue. I'm open to trying anything else also!
Many thanks for your time and any ideas.

So I'm dreaming of made-to measure shoes! Does anyone know of a place where you can get these made? Or, at least, where you can get those old-fashioned wooden things which will expand shoes from the inside?
I know that you can get liquid to spray on so that they expand, but for that to work the shoes have to exert pressure first, and that is what I can't have.
Thanks! Love A.

I get chilblains not from the cold, but from heat. They appear at any time of the year if I wear closed shoes for more than an hour inside. Or even outside, if it is warm enough. My toes itch and swell up, and then I can’t wear shoes again for a couple of weeks, only sandals.
I wear sandals whenever I can get away with it, or open-toes shoes. I wore sandals even in Sweden in January, where the lowest cutoff point - when I really do need shoes - proved to be minus two degrees Celsius.
Anything above that, and I have to be very careful not to wear shoes for too long. In rainy weather the airing cupboard is full of drying socks!
Today, having had my feet too close to the fire yet again, I searched on the internet for ‘home remedies’. Plenty of them about, and I’ll try them all!
However, am I the only one who has this problem? And will my feet benefit from the same remedies as cold-sensitive ones?

I believe I have a slight finger infection. The end of my finger has gone red and there is what seems to be some puss in the corner of the nail. It's quite sore.

Does this warrant a trip to the doctors or is it safe to drain it at home?

I had a wrist operation exactly 4 weeks ago to have some sort of carbon titanium disc fitted to an old injury that never healed properly.
Now, here's my question.
The scar is about an inch long just at the base of my right thumb, but about and inch above the scar towards my finger tips is still totally numb.
For the first couple of days after the op I just thought it was the anesthetic wearing off. But no, it's still numb.
Could this be nerve damage?

Thanks in advance for any opinions
It's most appreciated

However in the last week it is a lot worse. the inside of my wrist is swollen and tender and the cracking is worse, louder and more frequent. In the last couple of days my hand is a little numb and tingling slightly so I am thinking it is possibly tendonitis and/or a bit of carpal tunnel syndrome.

I'll put off the GP for a while as I am overseas at the moment but are there any supplements or things I can do to help my poor wrist?!

Any advice appreciated! :)
