Hello, I am new to this forum and not exactly sure where to post this topic but this one seemed the closest.
I am a 52 yr old male and experiencing some unexplained pain and sensations in my shoulder, arm and hand.
It comes and goes and starts with a numb pain down my left arm accompanied with pins and needles over my hand and up my arm on occasion. I worried that it may be linked to my back injury in some way. I have 3 prolapsed disks which cause pain and occasional loss of power to my right leg. I have been enduring the new symptoms to my arm and hand but today my right upper shoulder felt it had gone into a spasm or something. It totally took me out so had to lie on the floor hoping it would pass which it did thankfully. I am confused because this new pain is on the opposite shoulder to my previous pain problems. Grabbing at straws but maybe it may be linked to any of the meds I take for Bipolar. They are Lithium, Quityapine, lamaotragine. The pain is not linked to movement or position. I would be grateful if anyone has any ideas. Thanks

A few months ago I experienced sudden hearing loss in my left ear, with extreme vertigo and dizziness. I went to an ENT, who, once I could walk safely, sent me to PT for the vertigo. The therapist did the first two steps of the Epley ( not the last part, looking downward). I had a tiny bit of vertigo when I looked to the left so she told me to do the Barre - Daroff exercises. 10 times a day ( in one setting). No other instructions were given. I am a martial artist in a style that rolls a lot so I started rollong again ASAP.

I did the exercises for about three weeks, religiously, with little or no vertigo. then I stopped for a few days. I started up again and had much worse vertigo than I had before, and it hasn't gone away. In general it only happens when I do the exercises, but now it has hit a few time while I am working out.
The ENT Doctor isn't very concerned about it.
Any ideas on what is going on? The pt seems to have made it worse.

Hello,

I have been suffering from headaches for a little while now. On a typical day a headache would form behind the eyes at around 10am after I have been up for a few hours. This is before doing anything strenuous such as working. I generally wake up with a very mild headache (feeling not quite right with myself) which develops into a more noticeable headache during the day.

Though more recently (past week or so) I've been getting a dull pain at the back of my head which leads me to believe it could be stress or muscle related?

I'm a graphic designer so I look a computer screen most days for long periods of time. I try to take breaks when I can as the headaches seem to increase when doing intense work on screen. I'm 22 years old, I don't smoke and very rarely drink.

Where as the headaches were once or twice a week, I am now getting them most days. This could be due to work getting busier but I don't know.

Taking paracetamol helps for relief but I don't want to have to take them every day because of the long term effects.

I visited my GP a couple months ago where he believed I was rather tired which could lead to headaches. I had some general 'tiredness' tests which came back fine. Due to this he suggested it is probably down to my lifestyle. I don't exercise a lot at all so he suggested I do this which I have been, though I'm not sure if this is working. Could it be down to diet? I feel I eat and drink quite healthily. I also have a high metabolism and after I have eaten quite a big meal I rarely get headaches and if I had a headache it usually subsides.

In a recent forum post I read briefly about how magnesium can help with headaches though I don't know a lot about this to say either way. Are their benefits from other vitamins?

I understand this isn't the best place to ask for medical advise but perhaps you could offer an insight in to what kind of headache/s I am suffering from?

To recap on a few things:

Frontal headache between the eyes but also forehead.
Recent dull pain in back of head and tense neck/shoulders.

Thanks in advance.

Hey all,

For over a year now I have had issues with my neck here is the back story.

I'm 28 and I was laid in a funny position for a few hours paying on an xbox that was a gift at the time (I don't actually play video games but gave it a go as it was a gift from my wife) and I was startled my my wife entering the room and I looked to the right and I nearly jumped out of my seat from a sharp jolting pain in my neck.

A few hours later it was still hurting so I asked her for a gentle massage and as soon as she touched me my boy literally threw me across the room, my eyes exploded with tears and I told her not to come near me! The pain subsided but I was left with a constant ache on the right/back side of my neck.

Foolishly I left it months like this thinking it would heal itself. I finally went to see the doctor who sent me for physio, 6 months later I got my appointment and after her assessment told me the vertebrae on the right hand side of my neck was squashed together.

She gave me simple stretches to do along with gentle massages to work to bones which she did every 2 weeks. This went on for 2/3 months with little relief. She was pregnant so left for maternity leave and I was passed to her colleague Darren who discharged me after one session! despite me telling him I was still in pain but his reply was 'It feels ok to me!'

Two months later I went back to see the doctor and due to my good range of movement (I had kept up with the stretches on a daily basis that my original physio had given me) said there was nothing he could do.

About a month later (last week) I woke up in the early hours of the morning to a huge crack and I was unable to move my head in any direction with extreme pain to the point I was laid there sobbing. I calmed myself down and waited an hour to see if it would ease up but in the end I got my wife to call an ambulance as I couldn't move.

The ambulance arrived and put me in a neck brace and had to help me out of bed! Once I was up I was fine to walk around just in a lot of pain and unable to move my head.

At the hospital they gave me ibuprofen, tramadol and diazepam and over the last 4 days I am able to move it more and more. I am also back on the waiting list (4 months) to see a physio.

So my question is, what the heck is wrong with me!

I have just had a request from a client who says he has a crunchy neck and wants a massage as he feels it might help . I had lots of people with a tight neck , and the massage actually helped them but never had anyone with a crunchy neck and as I'm not sure what is the cause of it (might be a herniated disc , although that would come with much more serious syptoms ).
Could anyone give me any advice please .

I do not want surgery, it's not that bad, but it is noticeable and I wanted to correct it with exorcises and the like. I've been to an Alexander doctor, once, but didn't think to ask.

I was basically wondering if I could change the outward appearance of my neck and back's appearance?
