I've had a look at common symptoms of alcohol intolerance, I do suffer from flushed cheeks and dizziness, well before I can be inebriated. But the flushed cheeks isn't every time.

Is this alcohol intolerance? The aching joints is the main bother for me. Google doesn't offer any answers.

Thank you

I had allergies to milk, egg, nuts, peanuts, and shellfish since birth. In the last few years, I feel like my reactions have become less severe. For instance, I might only get a stuffy nose when I eat something that has milk as an ingredient, or something fried in the same oil as one of my allergens. However, in the past two weeks, I have had 2 somewhat severe reactions to things I have had in the past. One of these reactions occurred in the restaurant I work in. I talked to the chef and there are no peanuts or nuts(I am most sensitive to these) in the entire kitchen which leads me to believe it was something else. Could this mean that I am getting more sensitive to trace amounts of allergens found in my food? or is it more likely that these are just isolated incidents. Can such drastic changes like this occur this late in life, as I thought most allergies were developed fully in adolescence?

Do any of you know if it is possible to have only one symptom if you have an allergy to something?
I have this 'nettle sting' type rash, it's painful, sore and extremely itchy and always worse at night, I've had it since early May and done a lot of research on the net but so far I've not found anything about allergies with only one symptom they all say that for it to be an allergy this rash has to be accompanied by something; usually a swelling somewhere or a restriction in the throat area, luckily I've not experienced anything like this.

hi all, I haven't posted in a while. I am fed up looking for the needle in the haystack. I have considered myself to be wheat and dairy intolerant for many years now and limit these food groups. this is very manageable but if I over load on wheat especially I feel complete fatigue within half an hour of eating too much wheat. I have to lie down and I am completely bloated. An over dose of cows dairy results in itchy skin and acne. I also have pollen allergies. My son seems to be the same and as a baby he had gluey eyes and chest issues. Once I restricted his diet it cleared up. Now as a teenager he eats copious amounts of cereal drowning in milk. He has no energy and becomes moody.

last night I had no wheat or dairy but after eating about 10 fresh strawberries I suffered severe fatigue and bloating. Is it more likely to be fructose malabsorption? of course it is only dawning on me now that fructose is also present in wheat and dairy!

That's what I just read in an article in the New Scientist: "Not to be sneezed at" by Linda Geddes, at http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg22630161.000-hay-fever-can-airborne-allergies-be-cured.html#.VSllZVw-A3o. I'm trying to help a friend who has to avoid wheat, dairy, yeast and preferably sugar. She's been trying to make some home-made bread but having no success with it.

She buys lovely Spelt bread in her local health shop but as it's quite expensive she's trying to make her own. Any advice/recipes?

Hi all,

Firstly, this post is on food intolerance, not allergy but it just seemed to be the most appropriate place to post.

I thought I'd post on here because once again I find myself going round and round in circles on t'internet researching my ailments (yeah, I know you're not supposed to but come on, who doesn't?!) and I just feel mind boggled. Some of these symptoms have been hanging around me for years, on and off. Others for as long as I can remember. But one thing's for sure, they are currently rife and really affecting my daily life. I'm just SO FED UP of having one thing or another wrong with me all the time. And they always seem to be weird things that people (and me) have never even heard of (Iritis, anybody? How about Gustatory Rhinitis then? Or dry eye? I'll stop there). I don't like telling people any more because I just can't be bothered with explaining my 'new disease'. So I'm kind of at rock bottom at the moment.

I think the reason I'm so fed up is not only because it's been a lifetime battle with various symptoms but because one of those symptoms is chronic tiredness. I've been to the doctor numerous times complaining of this but they do blood tests and nothing out of the ordinary comes back. Not that I thought it would, having lost my faith in doctors a long time ago - as far as I'm concerned holistic and natural is always best. The only drugs I do take now are antidepressants, which I had to start taking a little while ago because I was just so fed up. I have refused to take them for ten years but it just got to the point where I didn't have the energy to fight it any more (or put everyone else through it either).

SO. The purpose of this ramble is to highlight the need to start feeling better in as short a time as possible! I want to do an elimination diet of sorts. As I said, I have had a multitude of ailments over the years. Auto-immune diseases seem to like me. I am chronically tired and chronically depressed and chronically stressed - and I dare say the three are intrinsically linked. I had severe asthma and eczema as a kid but grew out of them. The most recent thing is an eczema-like rash that, for the past 2-3 years has appeared for a couple of months and then gone again, with no obvious reason why. The most recent attack started about 2 months ago and has just escalated since then, covering half of one leg and large areas of the other leg and arms chest etc. - it's spreading rapidly.

I think all of these ailments are probably co-dependent and most likely down to food intolerance(s) but oh, where to start?! I tried one before and failed miserably because it was so damn hard/boring (and ironically, was the thing that triggered the Gustatory Rhinitis). This time I'm determined but I just want to do it ONCE, I don't have the energy to try 100 different diets right now. I want to start with the one most likely to get results. I'm thinking it's a toss-up between a classic 'elimination diet' like this one:

http://www.precisionnutrition.com/elimination-diet

Or the FAILSAFE diet like this one:

http://www.failsafediet.com/the-rpah-elimination-diet-failsafe/

There's also this 'few food' diet:

http://www.allergy-clinic.co.uk/food-allergy/food-allergy-guide/

Does anyone have any experience with either or with some other diet or even just on this subject please? Apologies for the essay/rant but I really am just at the end of my tether with this now :(
