Default Kundalini yoga?

Hi, does anyone have experiences with kundalini yoga? I was wondering if its not too difficult... Is it OK for beginners?

Hi Karen

I first experienced Kundalini Yoga a few years ago when I went on a weeks retreat and boy did I find it tough!

lots of chanting, repetitive movements, holding of positions and meditations usually done over set time periods

its not the usual type of yoga, like say hatha (gentle) yoga or ashtanga (dynamic) yoga as its more spiritual

its worth a try to see if the style suits you though

My only experience of this type of Yoga is through a Maya Fiennes dvd.

I love it and feel it helps me a lot. I find it better for me then to do other types of Yoga which I never seemed any good at.

You could always try it and see if you think it's something for you.

I think that Kundalini is worth trying provided you are relatively flexible to begin with. Personally my only experience of it put me off: I was too inflexible (and probably too old) to hold the postures for the required length of time, and found it too painful to be enjoyable.

Kundalini yoga can help one grow spiritually along with many other benefits but it is supposed to be done under a able guide. It's more closer to doing meditation.

If you have Sky tv, you can try Kundalini yoga with Maya before forking out for the DVD. It's channel 275. Lots of other workouts to try too.
