hi im new and i need help with the vtct swedish body massage health and saftey assisngment i just can get my head round it ! can any one help please

Apart from being long, which part are you having difficulties with?

all of it is some of it and is child protection she hasnt explaind it at all

The 2 main points about child protection are:

- You must report to the authorities anything that a child discloses to you of a child protection nature.

- If you give a massage to a child, you must have the parent or guardian presant.

Morning all,

I would just like to tell you all about my new holistic course I have started before I go to work. Last night I went to a 10 week holistic experience course where they give you a little inside of other holistic theripies and you can practice them as well. They all made me feel very welcome threr and last nite I did my 1st back massage and holistic facial which to my amazement I did them quite well and also the tutor said I did well to which gave me a boost. Next week its my turn for my facial which i'm really looking forward to as i've never had one before.

thank s for the info on the health and saftey but im still no nearer to doing the assisngment as im mature student its realy playing on my mind and then ive got health and saftye exam on 16th march its all getting to much the actual assisngments im finding easy but this one is starting to do my head in........

Hi Sasha,

I'm a mature student too, well nearer geriatric - lol. I took my exam a few weeks ago and past. I don't think it's really that difficult, but we did have an excellent tutor.

As for the assignment all the answers are on the HSE website and it's almost copying what's there. It's long winded and the assignment long, but all the info is there.

If you give me more idea what's sticking I can point you in the right direction.

4 questions to start with not sure if im on the right track
1. why is it important for clients to feel at eas and how might you know if they where not

2.what responsibilities do you have when working with children and vunerable adults to ensure protection of these individuals and yourself


3. how should you react to a client adults and children who disclose abusive experiences and what action should be taken

4. how can you protect yourself as a theripist fron inappropriate behaviour.

Its not really that helpful surely to just give you the answers, would it not benefit you more to point you in the right direction, or for you to go back to your handouts or ask your tutor to recommend a good text book.

I would highly recommend you buy one of the books from the Helen McGuiness series, she writes the books with VTCT/NVQ3 in mind and her books were used in colleges (not sure if they are at present).

The Health and safety information doesn't change that much so its well worth investing in a book.

I have her anatomy & phyisiology book, her aromatherapy and her Indian head massage books and each of them go into your course work in great detail, from health and safety, consultations, A&P and setting up to do the treatment, as well as marketing advice.
