Smile ITEC Holistic or Swedish

Hi newbie here.

I am wanting to do a itec in Holistic massage, however i have missed my place this year at my local college so i will have to wait until next year.

i have found another college that are starting a Swedish course with A&P in november, it lasts a year (30 weeks) once a week. The lady was in a hurry and didnt say what qualification it is.

In your opinion should I start with this or wait a year and so the ITC in Body Massage?

Or even do this one and start the other one next year? Do I need both straight away. I am wanting to be a mobile therpist eventually

Your wisdom is appriciated

VTCT and ITEC work to a similar standard, they are both level three. If you have a search on the forums, you will see there have been a lot of discussions about which is best.

Whether you want to wait or not is up to you, I'd say find out who certifies this other course, as that may be your final decision.

Would there be an option to do A&P separately whilst you wait for the right course?

I believe that things happen for a reason, if you aren't destined to do it until next year, there is something you need to do first. Or.. something may just come out of nowhere.

Thank you for your reply.

You are right.. I am just eager to start. I think i will wait until next year and do the ITEC at my local college.

I am doing a IHM 1 day dipolma in Dec and then I was thinking of doing a few of the other 1 day courses.. I know a lot of people dont like these courses but for me it will give me experience and start me off until next year.

Maybe I could charge a fee to my friends and family for IHM etc to get me a bit of extra cash.

I just want to start NOW lol

Thanks x

It is hard when you are keen to learn - I went on one AWFUL course, because I was in a rush. I have, however, been in a rush and found some great ones too.. so don't rule them out just cause it's not a college.

There are some reallygood one day courses out there, just be careful about your main courses, you may need the background to really get the benefits - some courses can be surprisingly in depth and it's best to not miss out.

HI Lillywhite

I'm doing VTCT in Swedish massage at a local college, I'm really enjoying it so far! We spend a lot of time doing practical while in class and do most of our A&P at home, with a little recap every week on the theory side.

I think so much of it depends on the teacher - I have a lovely teacher who is really good at what she does, she practices a wide range of therapies so we do go off on tangents sometimes talking about chakras or indian head massage. She really knows her stuff when it comes to massage too.

I'm about half way through the Health and Safety assignment - I'm finding it pretty straightforward as I do H&S at work too, but it is a bit long and boring, but I guess all important to know!
