Default Bad past life regression experience?

Has anyone had a bad past life regression experience that would make you advise someone not to do it? I have always been very curious and as a child I remember "knowing" things about life at the court of Henry VIII, and also the fear of being a (medieval?) foot soldier on a very muddy battlefield with armoured men on horses all around me. I'd love to find out whether I'm just being fanciful, but afraid that the experience could be disturbing. Do anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

Thanks,

mamancinq xx

Default RE: Bad past life regression experience?

I've had a few past life regressions and I've found that there is nothing to be scared of because a trained 'regressor' will take you out of any memories which are a bit scary. Last time I had a session, I actually went to the point of my death in that life, started to feel the anger of it and then was gently but firmly guided past that point. This is not to say that you will experience that during a regression, Mamancing, but if you do, it's not frightening at all.

A regression should, in my experience, provide a chance to go over what you've recalled and deal with any linked feelings before you leave the session. I'd make sure you find a person with training in hypnosis/regression from a reputable source and ask them exactly what the procedure is and how they take you through it. Having said that, it's done in a light hypnosis state and if you don't want to experience something or go somewhere, you won't. You have complete control throughout.

Hope that helps,

Moonfeather

Furthermore - you can always take a friend along with you to ensure you can trust what's happening... I agree with Moonfeater - there's nothing to be scared of - provided the regressor is trained and qualified, accredited and experienced. It can be a most extraordinary experience and it can be 'life changing' - but equally - it can be dull and uninteresting.
I knew a case where someone was regularly regressed and while under hypnosis would draw the most amazing pictures of scenes he was witnessing... these were from the time of King Harold and the 1066 battle in Hastings. It was apparently true that Harold was killed - but interestingly, not necessarily by an arrow to the eye as history tells - but (according to this 'witness') by an arrow deflected of someones shield and into his face. Sorry to be gruesome here - just emphasising the point - curious details can arise when people are regressed... With this chap in question - in 'this lifetime' he could hardly draw to save his life (pun inintended) and at first denied entirely that he had in fact drawn the pictures... The most convincing point for me with this was the incredible sense of grief and loss - dishonour and sadness that came across from the chap - his battle lost, his king dead and the Normans hunting down both he and his comrades - his emotion was very powerful.

Don't be scared - just be prudent prior to your session.

Sol.

Thank you both Moonfeather and Sol. Do either of you or anyone else know what is the reputable training for past life regressors? I have had a bad experience with a medium who said really (I think) irresponsible things to me after I lost my daughter. I was pregnant and she told me that my daughter would not return in this baby but "might" if I had another, meaning I would have had six children in total. Luckily this is totally against my belief system - why would my daughter return to the same life situation and so soon? I have to believe that her life was complete with us. I think this was a very cruel thing to say to a recently bereaved mother who just desperately wanted her child back. She also told me where my daughter had picked up the infection that killed her - school - leaving me with guilt about having ever sent her, (she had leukaemia). Sorry to waffle on but I am curious about my past lives and hope to make sense of why I am here and how this life might relate to others I have lived, but I don't want to be hurt by my curiosity. You have both reassured me, so thank you.

We (Me, Gussie, Our Reiki Master, My Partner and a couple of others) all had a past life regression done by Roger Burman (author of Why Come Back? and others) and his partner (she was the medium who connected to get the meanings for what we had experienced).

It was a group regression (we actually experienced two lives), almost done like a guided meditation and as we were being guided into the meditation we were also told how we would stay aware of our surroundings and would be able to come out of it at any time should we so wish. Nobody experienced anything bad and we were told beforehand that our spirit guides would not show us anything that would disturb us. As an example, in one of the lives I died, but I did not see anything graphic to do with this just one minute I was in a situation and then the next I saw my body on the floor then being carried up into the sky by the archetypical angels. It was explained that our spirit guides often use symbolic images to represent things which may otherwise disturb us. All in all we had an enjoyable experience and most interesting.

Still not sure how much I believe in it yet, but my path will guide me.

Love and Reiki Hugs

I have a longterm interest in Past Lives and associated therapy, and have experienced regression myself - there is nothing to fear as has already been pointed out correctly. I have been doing personal development workshops for 15 years, and past life experience regularly comes out as a result of the processes involved - guided meditation, etc.

A therapist I admire immensely is currently training as a regression therapist with Roger Woolger, and having read several of his books, I would expect any therapist trained by him to be safe. His website and list of practitioners may be found [link=http://www.rogerwoolger.com/international.html]here[/link]

By the way, I sincerely believe that we as spirit choose our parents - indeed our whole llife experience. Although the information the medium gave you caused upset, I would not consider it to be out of the question. Sometimes souls incarnating only to be returned to spirit through miscarriage, cot death or esarly childhood illness, etc can be our greatest teachers.

Mamancing, I don't know of any regression training courses, I'm afraid. I do know you can trust anyone trained by Dolores Cannon - my most recent session was done with a trainee of hers. I would suggest a net search and look for people with hynosis or similar qualifications/experience. I have found regression to be useful in understanding some of my 'blocks' and why I react certain ways, but I also find that I have enough going on in this life and don't really need even more stuff to ponder!

As regards your experience with the medium, perhaps she thought she was re-assuring you by proving that life does go on and children in spirit are not 'lost' by any means. I do hope you have released and healed any guilt about your daughter's illness... you were not to blame in any way for it.

Interesting experience, Giles - I haven't heard of it being done that way before, with a medium alongside to interpret. My regressions have all been unique - two via hypnotic trance, one during a healing session and others spontaneous 'flashes' when my spirit friends thought I needed them. I would never recommend regression just out of curiosity about what/who you were, but as an aid to discover possible blocks in this life, it is useful.

It is amazing Doq how things crop up...When I asked my question about past life qualifications this morning and related my story about the medium that had hurt me, a little voice was saying "well, why not? Maybe she would return in a different body but this time without illness, and with you a very changed person for the experience of having lived through her death." I saw a spiritually oriented friend this afternoon who said the same thing...so.. perhaps I ought not to be so dismissive, and in the meantime I realise there is a chance I could be pregnant...

Thank you for all your thoughts Doq, Moonfeather and Giles.

With a good practitioner and a good therapy (they do differ) it can be a life enhancing experience.

But I recommend Past Life Healing in preference to simply Past Life Regression.

Regression can bring forth lives that are unrelated to existing blockages in this lifetime but Past Life Healing requests the life that is creating the blockage here and now due to the requirement to heal it so that you can move forward unhindered by the past life. Its amazing how much of our lives are hindered by past life experiences and the amount of negative memories we store in the field of consciousness. These negative energetic memories of previous life experience can impact in the most extraordinary ways, the memories shapeshift ( in the same way that miasm's do, miasms is energetic disease that homeopaths address) so for instance a person with an inferiority complex in a past life might be a workaholic in this life due to them still unconsciously attempting to prove that they are good enough.

I highly recommend it.

Like the Sorcerer's Apprentice, I taught myself to run people through past life regressions while in my teens. Though I was young, the method I used was not, but was tried and tested. I have a scientific frame of mind, so even then started when possible to check out the actual facts gleaned from regressions. I should state that I do believe in reincarnation, and the regressed people tended to believe their experiences were authentic.

However, I discovered that while some regressions are 'real' insofar as the lives when checkable did occur, others were not. So I would sound a word of caution. It is always perfectly possible from my research that a seeming past-life from regressions isn't actually real. Sometimes the subconscious feels put 'on the spot' as if it is expected to come up with something and therefore it does. The result, sometimes, is false memories - even when emotion and vivid seeing might be involved. I several times was able to trace back peoples' supposed past lives when they were recent enough, only to discover that they were fiction. This must happen with all or most systems of past-life regression, so I sure wouldn't want anyone to jump to wrong conclusions about themselves because they believe a 'past life' to be authentic when it is not.

My philosophy on all this as it evolved is that we remember past lives spontaneously when we are meant to - but God knows what He is doing, and past lives are normally concealed from us for very good reason. It's part of the Plan that we normally don't recall past lives, and that Plan is there for a reason. Regressions might therefore be questionable as a practice - just a thought, and we are all entitled to our opinions. I personally for the above reasons wouldn't have any interest. If I am divinely intended to recall something, then I will, is the way I see it.

Once more, my word of caution would be that seeming past-life memories are not always valid as I definitely found by tracking them down through the records, only to find them fictitious.

I quite agree, Venetian - that's how I see it too. All my regressions have been for a purpose, to reveal something which I need to know for this life's progress, but I have no interest in finding them out for my curiosity. If it is to heal, well and good. Otherwise, I think 'tis best to leave alone, or you run the risk of focusing too much on what was, rather than what is.

It's no worse than a bad dream. Otherwise, that fear stays buried and has a negative influence on you in this life. You have to remember it's a PAST life. It's done and gone!

Dear NoPatterns

Sadly it is not as these case studies testify.

Here is a few case studies and these are not the best.

Case Study 1

36 year old female healer and church medium with a need to please and seeking approval also suffering from serious physical problems in the ovaries, tubes etc. In the past life the lady had experienced exactly the same issues as in this life and this caused her death in the past life. This was a repetitive cycle that has repeated itself genetically from the past life carried forth into the current life. She is trying to gain recognition from the mother figure. After the healing and initiation St Germain (Merlin) came and told her that she was still looking for approval as in her past life, and do not make the same mistakes again. Be quite and cautious, be caring, learn from mistakes and take responsibility for the illness that you have co-created.

After the session the woman said that she felt like she had received a whole year's healing in one day.

*

Case Study 2

40 year male, incredibly positive and actively working as a professional computer operator. He was a perpetrator of sexual abuse during sleep state for five years and was seeking to break the pattern and understand the root cause. During the past life he was a perpetrator of sexual abuse and rape. He had gone from slave to abundance as a plantation owner and abused his power with no regard to other's feelings. His healing guide made it quite clear that this had been a repetitive karmic cycle of failure to accept that 'no means no.' The therapist carried out the karmic cutting procedure to enable the client to cut free from the past life karma.
Two year's later the client confirms there as been no further incidents and noticed the clearing of negative energy that he had been sensing. This case study is an impressive one and we would like to do more work with perpetrators and sex offenders so that they can be truly free of their negative and repeating karma.

*

Case Study 3

50 year old male builder. He had not come to terms with his son's suicide, three failed marriages behind him due to him walking into relationships blindly due to his emotional need to be loved. In the past life he was blind and he had shared two lives with a female called Mary which he lost through traumatic deaths. He became a drunk and full of self-pity because he felt responsible for Mary's death. His guide told him that he had experienced the past life of blindness to teach him humility and to show him that in this life he was looking at life through closed eyes. He had also become overprotective of women in this life due to his loss of Mary in the previous lives. After his initiation his son who had passed over came to greet him and said "I love you Dad, do not be frightened, get off your horse and heal the mind, because you have learnt how to stop emotional pain. Following this emotional experience of re-connecting with his son. The healing guide came again and told him that he had suffered the loss of his son to experience true emotional and physical pain, and this experience would prepare him for his future which will be healing others.

After the session the client was in awe of the therapy and that it had enabled him to see and speak with his son for the first time (eleven years) since he passed over. The healing was profound and it resulted in him finding peace and becoming totally free of pain.

*

Case Study 4

45 Year old male electrician, first memories of childhood 'he didn't belong' through his search to belong he ended up in a mental hospital because he found comfort through his addiction to drink and drugs. Then sought religion to find a place to belong. During both past lives he lived a community life.

The healing guide told him His soul is seeking community life here in this existence, and that the pieces of the jigsaw are in place and a new tribe is forming, you will live your community life, now is not the time and it is not for you to know. After his i

This one was also interesting

46 year old female, secretary. abusive mother, no father, rejected by 4 brothers. Her main issues to be healed were wishing to receive recognition, wheat allergy, weight, physical bloatedness and stomach problems.

The past life revolved around an illegitimate child who was orphaned age 4. The child was rejected by her father when she sought him out. The Victorian character got into bad ways as an adult and felt worthless and he eventually died of a broken heart due to the real father beating him up.

During the healing process to enable the client to release the pain, the therapist helped her to give birth to the pain that she had been carrying in her stomach. The weight problem was to do with self-hatred and fear. The self-hatred stemmed from the 'bad ways' in the past life and the fear of being caught as a fraud. At the end of the life the healing guide told the client that she had carried the pain through to this life and a major part had been a lack of recognition by the father figure.

We also carried out soul retrieval to reclaim her 'identity' from her father during the healing process. In response to her questions the guide responded that the allergy to wheat was related to an instance in this life that happened at age 14. At the end of the session the client remembered her first sexual experience was in a hay stack.

After the initiation Archangel Michael arrived and he said that she wasn't quite ready for her mission yet and that there was still more work to do first and he gave her a quote from the bible. Unbeknowing to the client she had been seeking the father figure and a man to give her recognition and make her feel valued in this life.

After the session the client said that is was incredibly powerful and liberating. She added that it would take some time to assimilate everything that happened during the session.

Following the session the therapist reviewed metaphysically what allergies and epilepsy were about.

Allergies - Denying "your own power"
Epilepsy - Rejection and struggle
Overweight - Fear, self rejection, seeking recognition
Stomach - Fear, dread, inability to assimilate the new.

The therapist found this to be amazing confirmation of all that had been experienced in both the past and current life.

Onwards and upwards with the healing process.

being love

Default RE: Bad past life regression experience?

I'd slightly revise my last post in which I basically suggested past life recalls, if they don't happen naturally and spontaneously for people, are to be avoided. There are cases of evident healing from such recalls.

Somehow this has to be balanced with the occult view on past lives and why we don't normally recall them as taught to me. We haven't lived just a few past lives, but a huge number. To give us a fresh white slate without past memories to stultify us is the very purpose of re-incarnation. We've all witnessed how with age people can get stultified in character and don't move on or change so much. In fact, unfortunate character traits can get totally ingrained. So death and rebirth breaks that cycle. (Of course, yes, at a deep level some traits and momentums still remain to impact the next personality.)

On top of that, were we to remember not only hundreds of our deaths, but also scores of very painful and frightening deaths, it would be overwhelming. The collective guilt would also be overwhelming since we have at times been less savoury in character, and there may hardly be a crime we haven't committed, many times, were we to recall it all.

So that's why a veil is drawn across. Bit by bit, when a person is ready (and this is quite rare) the Higher Self releases one memory and then another if there's a good and constructive purpose to it.

So I guess it's a question of personal decision and choice; and it's perhaps not wise to be totally against regressions or totally for them. One useful service they've rendered is to have led to the more authoratative books giving evidence for 'Life After Life' or even 'Life Before Life' (between lives). I'd echo Moonfeather above that it's really not a practice to engage in out of mere curiosity or for entertainment (which some do).

Venetian, Sacredstar and NoPatterns, I really appreciate all your comments and advice. I particularly appreciated your thought Venetian about remembering things when you're supposed to, and for a purpose. I think my interest in past life regression is mainly curiosity, although I would like to know whether my chronic procrastination has any deeper source than my fear of failure/laziness! My emotional state is no mystery as I lost my daughter 2 years ago, and would it help me to know whether this experience was part of some karmic balancing act? Your 3rd case study was interesting Kim, about the builder whose son had died.

Anyway it's all given me lots to think about.

Many of the case studies mentioned would not know what a higher self was let alone how to access it, neither did some have any spiritual knowledge or interest, so the only way for these people to access the root causes of their problems was by being taken into altered state by a professional therapist, once there they then provided all the information.

Your philosophy Venetian would wipe out homoepathy which is now accepted by the NHS. I recommend that you investigate 'energetic disease called 'miasms' to have a complete picture beyond just the esoteric that you have been taught. It is enlightening! It is also true that one can access some past life info oneself but it is nothing like the amount of information and intensity and profoundness of a thorough healing process. When a client is in that space they are totally in the experience but the therapist is detached, objective and can pick up all the repeating patterns that are impacting on this life time.

I do not recommend that people attempt to access past lives alone unless you are well advanced spiritually and doing it through the use of CD's could also cause more harm then good, one really has to know what one is doing when we work in other dimensional reality hence my Merlin said talk to the professionals. He has our highest good at heart and great interest in past life work and past life healing.

It also states in the bible that the deeds of man effect 3 future generations again energetic disease. This is also mentioned in the Jesus Sutras.

Dear Mamancinq

I think you would find many anwsers to your nagging questions.
