I read somewhere, probably in one of Yogananda's books, that Sri Yukteswar felt it was our duty to help animals evolve up the reincarnation ladder. Swami Prajnanananda, who is the current "kriya guy" in that lineage (his guru, Swami Hariharananda, was a disciple of Sri Yukteswar) told me that pets can reincarnate as humans, especially if we have treated them well and model good human behavior. He also warned that if you become too attached to a pet, you can reincarnate as a cat or dog or whatever. He mentioned a famous case in India (where else!) of a man who loved his deer and grieved terribly for it and then died and came back as a deer. Now, he didn't explain how everyone knew it was the same guy!
Sri Yukteswar also mentioned life on other planets. I think Autobiography of a Yogi has a chapter about a spiritually evolved planet name Haroki or something similar where Sri Yukteswar incarnated after leaving earth. He came back to visit Yogananda in the flesh and told him about it. Very Star Trek!

Maybe the deer followed him into a bar and they chatted about it over a beer!
Yes, I didn't want to complicate things BUT ... it's the original Theosophical view - whick is merely a continuation of one Hindu view - that animals eventually evolve out of their group souls and become people. In fact, this view has it that the core center of being or Atman begins in minerals such as rock, and evolves over huge ages through plant life, animals, and into humans ... but doesn't reincarnate backward into animals. However, this view isn't part of the latest or newer neo-Theosophy movements, which have it that we incarnate for the very first time as a human. I adhere to that view.
But there are always rare exceptions. The teacher, Mark Prophet, said that if it's of benefit to the person or to the universe, God can do anything. And he cited cases of how elemental life (sylphs, undines, salamanders, etc) 'crossed over' into human life, and angels also.
It's a wonderful, sublime chapter in Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi when Sri Yukteswar, having passed on, but achieved moksha or his Ascension, returns physically to talk to his disciple in a hotel room! The planet he was serving on was an 'astral' world. Once free of the rounds of rebirth as he was, the concept is that then we can go anywhere.
That, it should be said, is another important part of the reincarnation doctrine - that we do not reincarnate forever, but attain liberation from rebirth, called moksha in Hinduism, and 'the Ascension' in some Western schools of thought. In the reincarnation view of life, moksha is the ultimate goal of life.
In the bible Jesus called humans animals and I tend to agree with him. Human traits are animalistic compared to the soul of the Angel within. Jesus also said it will be the angels that receive the harvest of the end times e.g those that have learnt to fly divine !
I don’t agree with Theosophy as there is 2 billion that are in the process of leaving the planet.
Some souls are just going home to their home planets due to the soul giving up hope that the human will get on with their job on earth. Interesting the amount of light workers that have left the last year, also some say they are on their way back again, coming back to enjoy the paradise to come.
A colleague and dear friend, Jacqueline Cook the world’s leading teacher of Shiastu for animals discovered that animals do have past lives and these do impact positively and negatively on current lives just as ours do, as does their inner child.
Also some animals are more angelic then humans and humans have a lot to learn from animals hence why GOD sends them as divine messengers and healers. E.g cats, dogs, horses etc soak up all our negative energy just like crystals do.
Interesting case recently where we were told that on a person’s home planet there were no animals hence why she was so fond of them when she came here.
Have also had cases in past life healing where the client had no past lives they were just a pure light being from another planet. They had come to planet earth simply to help others to evolve and overcome current experiences.

PS there is also no such thing as an astral plane in real terms humans create it.
Hinduism would have it, in many sects, that if we have bad karma we could even reincarnate as a toad, say, or spider, or a slug, whatever
Sorry, David, I've not come across this anywhere. I seem to recall reading that we may start out as an animal, but once we attain human birth, which is something to aspire to apparently, then we always take rebirth as humans.
When my son was about three he suddenly asked one day 'do you remember, Mummy, when you were little and I was big?' Indeed I hav e been told that he and I have taken numerous births together but this may be the first time I've been the parent (and he didn't like me being in authority over him, I can tell you!)
A very good topic, thanks to a energylz who pointed me in the direction to my question about PLR I am now wanting to know of a PGR Therapist who is recommended?
Well, I only know of Roger Burman as I said in my earlier post on this thread.
It seems he and his partner Angie are the founders of this place (see weblink) that offers various things, so maybe contacting them may be a starting point.

My daughter (now 6) comes out with things like this quite regularly and she doesn't like me being the parent either. Interesting I've never thought of this in joint past life terms just kind of assumed she is referring to a past life and left it at that, rather than realising we have had previous lives together. I can be so dense sometimes.
I've read some of your posts b/c I am doing a journalism project on this topic. Can any of the practitioners tell me which regression session sticks out most in your mind? Have you ever been nervous or alarmed about someone's regression? Does it drain your energy when conducting these sessions?

Coming at this from a shamanic perspective, I'd have to disagree. I've had several lives as non-human (cat, oak, goat are the ones I remember). These were not prior to human incarnations, but scattered in amongst the human ones.
Can these memories come to you in dreams too? Because not only do I have both memories and dejavu flashbacks, I have dreams and nightmares which I can recall in photographic detail to this day. All of which are based on the same 'character' (whilst always in first person) and seem to be in the same time period.
I would be happy to share some of these memories with you if you so please (including my previous demise).

If the soul when it dies does not get to the Land of the Dead (shamanic name - I guess others have other ways of referring to it) then it can be reborn with past life memories (and past life baggage). Not necessarily a good thing.
If the soul does get to the Land of the Dead, then it gets healing, can review previous lives and can plan for the next life. In those cases, past life memories are very unlikely.
