Hiya all
As January is named after the two faced god Janus, who looks both back into the past and also forward into the future. I thought this month would be a good time to make a few changes in my lifestyle patterns and just reflect a little about what I have accomplished throughout the past year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janus Also what changes I should make to improve my health and well being for the year ahead of me. I know that maintaining those changes is going to be the problem that I face.....trying to change habits that are ingrained in my daily routine . Just wondered how others on the forums managed to change their habits? and wondered if anyone had any tips ?. Last edited by oakapple; 3rd January 2010 at 08:47 AM. |

I am going to try flower remedies to help me through mine Oakey. I have quite a few remedies at hand, but there are some companies where you can fill in their chart and they will design a suitable remedy bottle.
My personal one I have started includes, chestnut Bud, to learn from the past and not keep making the same mistakes...Beech, because I am my own worst critic at times therefore helping me to be a little kinder with myself, Crabapple which is for cleansing parts of the self you are not happy with, and bringing in acceptance. Lrch, for a bit of self confidence..to get up and try again........etc |

Yes, a meet-up would be good. Maybe we could make it an HP meet-up and see how many locals acknowledge the invitation. see you soon. |

Thanks Fleur, have you ordered from either of them.
Hope they do something for will power for all the resolutions I've made for this year!!

I havent ordered from them direct, but both companies remedies are readily available in health shops, even some chemists. But its handy if you dont want to go to the expense of gathering several up, it can get expensive. they will do a remedy mix for you..

I've already realised one of my 'hopes' for this year. Can't really call it a resolution as I decided around November it was something I was aiming for for this year - go back to full time work instead of part time.
And....I start my new job tomorrow. ![]() But because I have managed this, it has spurred me on to stick to the resolutions I have made. Do you think you stick to them better if you put targets on them timewise?

Good luck for tomorrow Treacle......an independent woman again eh....
They say that it takes about 21 days to break a habit...so I am working towards that goal. Might even make it from week to week, or even day to day at first. My biggest problem is picking food in the evenings.....bad habit and a hard one to break. |

Lol Oakey...you remind me of a friend who said he was on an excellent, effective diet.... he took it after his mail meals every day!

New Year Resolutions are a funny occurence, as a hypnotherapist and life coach, they also impact hugely on my business at this time of year, in fact I'm running a New Year's Resolution workshop this weekend.
If I could give just one tip, it would be to drop this word "try" when thinking about making any changes, New Year or not! The word try, in the way it's used, especially in "self-talk" presupposes failure. Instead of saying that you are going to "try" and change something, make the decision to actually change it. I'd suggest picking up a book on NLP and looking closely at your perception of the changes that you want to make.................. and of course............... drop that word "try"!

The more I look into NLP, the more interesting it becomes.. Would have liked to attend your workshop, but, alas, too far away. Could you recommend any books on NLP that are suitable for positive affirmation. |

OK.....I've grabbed a few of Crabbies books.
1 Unlimited Power by Anthony Robbins 2 The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren 3 You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L Hay. Having had a quick scan through a couple of the book.........Hayley Mills and the film " Pollyanna " springs to mind..... ![]() |
