Default Foot Charts

Hi - I had a check over the forum but could not find anything on this, so hopefully it's not a re-post.

I have just had the first lesson yesterday in Reflexology which was looking at the basics of the feet. The tutor had us look at a diagram, while talking through where to map certain points in the feet (we were drawing on people's feet!), I was at the end of the class and so naturally with her pace, she was never really up to check if I was doing it right and I don't feel at all confident with the points are.

She kept to basics and just to roughly map out; where the zones of shoulder girdle, chest and pelvic floor - the lungs, solar plexus, pituitary gland, shoulder, stomach and bladder.

Is there a way to know more where these points are? The bladder/stomach are the ones which are most making me feel I've lost it. Where roughly should I be aiming for? if it helps the maps we are using are the ones found in Bayley School (here

Sorry to be a pain and thank you for any help!

Hi CM

The school that I studied reflex used the same chart as the tutor originally studied at the Bayley School.

Considering that you have only just done one lesson, don't be too concerned. I assume this is a diploma course you are on? If so there will be plenty of opportunaties to go over the location of the reflex zones.

The stomach reflex just under the ball (1st MPJ) of the foot. Partly on the right foot but mainly on the left foot as that is where most of the stomach anatomical is located.

The bladder reflex is located underneath the inner ankle bone, and where the arch goes towards the heal you may notice a "puffy" area. This is bladder zone and it's the same both sides.

But don't worry too much about locations as working the whole foot is working the whole body, and therefore (according to theory) balance occurs through out.

Best wishes

RP

Hello CM
I agree with Reiki Pixie the descriptions of the placement of the organs are great, but it is a lot to take in after your first lesson, once you start working on the feet practically putting theory into practice it will begin to make sense. A tip try drawing round your feet on tracing paper and overlaying this on top of a map of the body's organs (of roughly the same size!), this will give you some idea of where things are.

As you train you will find that different books and training courses place some of the smaller areas of the body in slightly different places on the foot, don't be phased by this, as you become more experienced you will feel what is right in each client for yourself and after all we are all individuals, not identical inside or out!

don't panic enjoy the training, read lots around the subject and tune in to your own feet/health!

good luck
Kiriana

Thank you Reiki Pixie and Kiriana

Yes it's the ITEC Diploma that I am doing on Comp Therapy.

I know it's a bit anal to panic so much after one lesson but it was a slip of confidence I think. A lot of people on the course have all been reading up and sort of seem impatient to learn more so it seems like I'm somehow already behind.

I've been drawing on everyone's feet marking where it is but without a real frame of reference I was starting to doubt what I was doing and it really helped, the advice. I do have a sheet which is similar, where it shows horizontally the make up of feet vs organs although I think using tracing paper etc will perhaps serve me better and I'll give that a shot.

Thanks again!
