i have had some angel cards for a while now and have just started doing readings...so far i have only done a handful and they've all been for people i know really well. so i just wondered what advice anyone can give me for doing readings for people over the internet etc. do you find it easierif they send you a photo or give you certain details? i work a lot with my angels and always ask them to help me connect to a person, but like i said, so far it's just been with people i know!
all advice/ suggestions gratefuuly received!!!

I ask for full name and date of birth - that seems to be sufficient to tune in well enough. Also, as with everything, the more specific question you get the more specific your answer will be. If they request a general reading, I find it more accurate to break that down into sections - a few cards for relationships, a few cards for work, a few cards for money - all the things that usually bug people!
I'm sure you'll find over time that it's much easier to read for someone you know nothing about and now I find it quite difficult to read for friends as my own opinions and feelings get in the way! Often, you get clearer readings as there is absolutely nothing interfering with the connection between you and the client. Just trust whatever comes to you. Starting by offering readings on the forums is a brilliant way to build confidence and get some honest feedback.
Hi Sara [sm=wave.gif]
I wonder if you could answer a question for me please regarding angel cards also.
I have noticed that when giving angel card readings that some readers reel off word for word what is written on the card. Is this the correct way to do a reading? Or do you say what you feel that comes to you when you try and connect with the person?
Thank you.

I'm not an expert on angel cards as I use Tarot, but it's the same method really! I know what you mean. Hmm, I have to be tactful here. I think it's possible to give an adequate reading by just using the words on the cards. But you can give a fantastic reading by trusting your own intuition and going with what you're given and what you see in the pictures or even in your own head.
For example, I use the Thoth deck which has words under each card but I don't always use them -in fact more often than not I don't mention them at all. So when my attention is drawn to the word I know that it has special significance for that person - does that make sense? Also, you have to remember that one card on its own may not mean anything as it's tied into the cards surrounding it and is only part of the picture you get from all of them together. So, actually, the meaning has nothing to do with the words themselves but the links between all those concepts.
I hope that's explained it to you. If I went to a reader who merely read the words on the cards I'd be deeply disappointed - after all, I can do that for myself at home as a complete angel card novice. The expertise comes with making connections and associations, and tuning into intuitions about how those words or cards apply to that particular person's life.
Let's try and give an example. You could have "Joy", "Trust" and "Answered Prayer". Now you could just say there's a lot of happiness and trust around you so your prayers have been answered. That doesn't really mean anything. Now, by using your intuition (on this mythical person) you might be able to say "It looks as if you've really been searching for happiness for a long time now and have given up all hope of ever finding it. What the cards are saying is that you should continue to trust in your dreams and that the happiness you want is coming towards you if you continue to hope, believe and pray for it" - much better and more pertinent. To yet another client, you might say"In your relationship you haven't felt able to trust your partner and you've been wanting some proof that will put your mind at rest. But something is going to happen that will totally lay the trust issue to rest and allow you to be completely happy and enjoy your partner." See what I mean?
Phew, I didn't go on so much but I hope that's helped!
Hi Sara,
Thank you for your reply. It made a lot of sense to me. Do you think that anyone can learn to read cards? or does the person giving the reading have to be intuitive?

Yes, anyone can learn to use cards in the same way they'd learn to do anything - discipline, application and practice. And I also believe everyone has intuition, it's just a case of exercising it to develop it further. Any cards are a brilliant tool for developing and accessing that intuition. So you may, at first just learn the card meanings and work like that. But you'll find that the more you use and work with the cards, the more you'll start using your intuition and you'll begin to find your own meanings that have nothing to do with the actual words or even pictures.
Here's a good way to get started and others have mentioned it on other forums as it really is so good - a card journal. Every morning pick a card for yourself to give you guidance for the day and make a note of it. Then at the end of the day write up what has happened to you and try to see where the card fits in with that, or what message it may have been trying to give you to help you prepare for what the day held. You'll learn about every aspect of the cards that way.
Hi Sara [sm=wave.gif]
Thanks ever so much for your reply and wise advice. I think thats a great idea about the card journal and will start one today and see how i get on with it.
Thanks again!

someone said to me that as long as you are honest with the person you are reading for i/e you tell them if you're a complete novice or an accomplished reader / you say if the reading is from the cards or your own interpretation etc etc and you remain true to the reading then your reading should be accepted in the correct way...i think that sounds good to me.
some angel cards seem to be very different to others. i have the angela mcgerr harmony angel cards and they have quite a bit of writing about them in an accompanying book, which i like very much.
i like the journal idea of yours, that sounds like a great thing to do...thanks! [sm=hug.gif]
I first shuffle the cards and set them out in a circle - if just a small deck (if a Tarot deck I divide into three piles).
I then tell the pendulum who I am doing the reading for.
I then ask it to pick the card for this person.
If its a large deck, I ask which pile the card is in, then take that pile, place it in a circle and dowce with the pendulum as above. You can feel the pendulum drawn to the particular card/pile.
Hope that you can follow this.

I provide free readings by e-mail on the TABI website [link=http://www.tabi.org.uk]www.tabi.org.uk[/link]
The only information I get about the querent is a name, date of birth and gender. They also need to ask a question, so the reading won't be too vague.
So far I had very good feedback from the people who cared to respond. It's amazing how accurate you can be with your cards and only little info about the person.
