My daughter was 6lb 10 oz, three weeks early (she still cannot wait for anything) and my son was 10lb 12oz (ouch) on time, now 5ft 9ins and 6ft 4ins, 23and 21. Easy carry, labour, and birth for both.....and I'm only 5ft 2" by the way!! I was never told my son was such a big baby until the final stages of labour.....and guess what.....at that stage i already realised LOL.

R.e How Heavy Were Your Babies
Hey!
My son was born after 32 hours of labour weighing 8lbs 15oz... quite big seeing as me and my partner were only 7 pounders when born! I had a 3rd degree tear and had about 40 odd stitches! Still painful 2.5 yrs later! I would like another baby soon but I'm a bit worried 'cos they say the next are bigger! But I dunno if I truly believe that - yet! hehe
all mine were at the seven to 7.10 mark the last one was the smallest but the worst to have facing the wrong way, head down but wrong, just a tad painful but the thought of a c section got her out, right little madam she is.
1st was 6lb 7oz gas and air, went home after 5 days as health visitor insisted I stayed in because I was a single mum.
2nd born at 35 weeks, 4lb, because of pre-eclampsia, spent 12 days in SCBU because she was jaundiced. Had to have an epidural because of blood pressure and not able to move around because of all the machines + anti convulsant drugs.
3rd induced because of pre-eclampsia again, they insisted I would be fine to deliver naturally tho I had a low lying placenta. It ruptured so had to have an emergency c-section and lost 4 pints of blood. Baby born weighing 4lbs 4 and both home in 2 days. Husband has had vasectomy as doesn't want me going through the above again
My 1st 6lb 6oz two weeks late
2nd(a whopper for tiny me) 7lb 11oz one week late
3rd (a month early) 5lb 11oz, he's now ten and 5ft 2", with size 7 feet
my (not so) little girl was 10lb 8oz wen she was born! she was 12 days late. i was due to be induced at 4pm on the 6th dec, but at 4.15am on the 6th, my waters broke just as i was about to go to sleep! she always has had to have the last say! lol
she's 2yrs and 8mnths now and still stubborn, lol.
i read in earlier posts that they gain 1lb for each wk they are late, is that true??
i coulda had a 8lb baby instead of 10lb????? LOL we had a bet on at work on how big she was goin to b. the closest was 9lb lol. ppl were guessing 8lb cos i was 8lb 2oz wen i was born - 2 wks late! lol
she's still big for her age tho, taller than pretty much every 2.5-3 yr old i have seen, and she wears 3-4 yr clothes.
labour from waters goin was just under 6hrs 45 mins, and i couldnt get her to go to sleep at all that night and i got no help from mw's or anyone. i wouldnt want to stay overnight next time!
1st (now 36 years old!) Boy 10lb 7oz. Now 6 feet tall. Size 12 shoes!
2nd (now 27) Girl 10lb two weeks early. Only 5ft 6ins much to her disgust!
3rd (25) Boy 10lb 12oz only a couple of days early and the easiest birth of the lot! Now 6feet 6ins and size 13 shoes!
4th (23) Boy 10lb 7oz and three weeks early! 6foot 1inch and size 14 shoes!!
There was not a lot of chance of any of my babies being small as both my husband and myself were big babies as well. Both well over 10lb.
The trouble is, when they are bigger people think they are older and wonder why they cannot do things. For instance, people kept asking me how one of my sons was getting on at school. I pointed out that he was only just 2 years old and they looked so surprised!
1st (now 36 years old!) Boy 10lb 7oz. Now 6 feet tall. Size 12 shoes!
my brother is just 19 and he is about 6.4ish, and he wears size 14 shoes! lol. he was 8lb 13oz wen born, also 2 wks late!
imagine if some of urs were late or on time! mine was over 10lb but nearly 2 wks late. but i think she was so big because i didnt exactly eat properly wen preg as i was working all the time, so it was a lot of fast food after work which was about midnight.
it was a bit of a shock for me tho! as i sed i was 8lb 2 or 3 oz, 2 wks late and my oh was 7lb something so we werent really huge, lol
next time, ill be eating a lot better cos i dont work where i did anymore so hopefully even tho 2nd is meant to be bigger, it wont be as big! lol
i know wot u mean tho. me n my mum were in a garden centre a couple of months ago and a bloke there asked my lil girl if she was "goin bk to school tomorrow", my mum then sed shes only 2.5, and he looked shocked! lol
Mine was 6lb 5oz at birth - 4 weeks prem. Labour was horrendous. Was in hospital for 3 days before birth and 4 days after as he was in the SCBU. Labour was around 2.5 days, I was in so much pain and they said I wasn't having contractions ? Now he's 19 months old and 26lbs.
Both mine were very late and unduced both times, 1st 13 days late normal delivery 8lb 10oz, 2nd 10 days late, 11lb 3 and 1/2! He got stuck and had some distress so ended up with section. It was good decision as they had problems delivering shoulders even by section, but it was also frustrating as I was fully dilated and pushing with the head visable, but he would not descend any further, At the end of the day it is about having a healthy baby and healthy mummy and that is what i tell my clients regularly as a midwife...
My little girl was born 2 days late on Friday the 13th weighing 8lb 6oz and is really tall already at 8 and is in size 2 shoes and keeps trying my 6's on I think I will have to watch out soon they will fit!
My eldest son, 33, was 6lb 12oz and 6lb 13oz on discharge. The nurses were ecstatic as babies lose weight after birth. He's now around 5'10/11".
My youngest son, nearly 31, was 7lb 10" and nearly 6' now.
I'm only a titch so was pleased they weren't whoppers!
My first son was 9lb 9ozs and my second son was 6lb 12ozs and we are currently trying for number 3, but hey if that never happens I've got 2 beautiful children to be thankful for x
