Bless him, my friend used to do her dogs a foot bath with epsom salts in it (about 1 tablespoon per quart of water - shes american lol!). She said it used to stop her dogs feet from itching so much.

You could also try speaking to a homeopathic vet if there is one in your area. I know Black Walnut and Colloidal Silver can be used to treat athletes foot in humans but I'm not sure if they are safe for dogs or not.

Hi whitewing,

How about foot bath with mixture of Epsom salt + Citric Acid (if not vinegar)? This is basically a bath bomb basic recipe (if you add bicarb) but Citric acid or Vinegar may help the fungal condition.

Also, have you thought about grating cloves of garlic (pulp) and rubbing on to feet? You know when you chop a clove of garlic, the smell just stick to your hands doesn't it? I think that smell/sulphur is good for athelete's food. Try it. Your dog may stop licking too!

As for collidal silver, I don't know too much about it but I found a [link=http://www.emusnest.com/]website[/link] for pets so you may want to ask them.

Hi Chimera

Not wanting to throw a spanner in the works but are you sure its athletes foot. My little pooch chews her feet incessantly when her anal glands are blocked.
And this happens every few weeks. I know the classic sign is dragging their bottom on the floor but BT has never done that, but her glands are always full when she chews her feet.

The vet once told me if anyone could find a cure for blocked anal glands they would make a fortune.

Cheers Kealy [sm=dogrun.gif]

Hi…

I am afraid I have to agree with Kealy...

I remember reading somewhere that, dogs and cats do not get Athletes Foot, but they do get fungal infections caused by; amongst other thins, grass seeds, etc.

I will try and find more information on this subject for you.
